I feel like most times in relationships (when dealing with any topic) there's usually one person who is 'better' at certain aspects than the other and it balances out. Since most of us are dealing with budgets and payments and all that fun stuff...

Q: are one of you 'better' with money? Is it you or FH? How has it effected the wedding payment and budget process?

Technically, I'm 'better' with money. We probably make around the same amount of income although FH makes more on the books, and somehow I'm always saving money (not drastic amounts, but significant amounts) and he's always dropping his account right where it was before his paycheck came in. As far as our 'joint' account which we use for bills rent and wedding... We haven't been able to save much in there. Probably because every time we get a little ahead we have a vendor payment! Lol

We're both good with money, just a little different on our path. FH has been saving for a lot longer than I have, and he didn't understand how college kids were always so broke until he met me. He went straight into construction after high school, and I worked in-between hours throughout my Bachelors and Masters...so I was pretty much always broke. (SO AWFUL looking back, haha I don't know how I did it!)

I just graduated in 2011 with my MA and I've been working full time ever since, making close to the same as FH. He's been able to save for the past 10 years, while I was struggling. We're both good with saving, but we're good at spending when we deserve it.

I am much better with money than FH.... I pay all the bills, his bills too all of our accounts are linked together online. I am constantly reminding him not to waste $$ here.. or there.. and we need to SAVE!! $100 dinners cant happen anymore!

he definitely is better with money than I am! I have such a bad habit of tapping into my savings for things I want, and he has never even touched his savings account- I need to get better with that =/ lol

We're both good with money - but I think I'm better at spending it wisely. But even as I say that I'm thinking about how annoyed he gets when I buy a $70 blouse. Keep in mind we both have seperate accounts yet we're always hasseling the other one to save money.

I think we both compliment each other. I am better with money when it comes to budgeting, buying things on sale, searching for a better price, negotiating, and cutting spending. FH is better at saving. He doesn't generally shop much and he also makes more then me so it is easier for him to save. FH does buy things without looking for a better deal, which drives me nuts because I am such a bargain hunter. I almost never pay full price for anything. I am more organized and on top of things though so I pay the vendors, keep a schedule of due payments etc. That being said I will be in charge of the bills when we move in together. I'm luck if FH can remember what he ate for breakfast, I am not taking a chance of him remembering to pay the electric

We're both really good about saving money and paying all our bills right away. Neither of us came from families that had the money for handouts so anything we wanted we paid for by working. I worked full time while going to school full time, and he used to work at his grandmothers restaurant in Maine bussing tables. I think that because we had similar upbringings that might have something to do with how we handle money in a similar way. Granted, it's a lot easier for him since he makes so much more than I do, but he has more bills to pay! lol its definitely a lot less stressful to handle all these payments knowing that we don't have to worry about the other making reckless spending choices.

I am for sure better at saving and budgeting. If FH is always acting like his money will burn a hole in his pocket. I keep us on track budget wise. And together we are saving, but I have to pay attention to the bills and amounts we spend. He keeps saying how easy it has been to save, and that just proves it, lol because it's been tough-he just doesn't realize because I do all the bill paying/rent paying/food shopping/etc lol. We each get a set amount of 'spending' money each week and he is usually the first one to run out lol.

FH & I have a joint account and joint savings account. What he makes, and what I make go in there and it is OUR money. He handles the bills, paying, etc but I know all about it. We set a budget for the wedding and have both been pretty good. There were certain things we were not willing to sacrifice though. We are equally good with money since all finances are dealt with together. We have our monthly budget for savings, spending, bills etc and do well with it!

I am the one better with money. I am the one that pushed us to go to finances classes to better learn how to live within our means and budget better. I sit down every month and go over our finances. I figured out a way to get him out of his massive debt. I'm the one that puts more into our joint savings account. He does put into it but I have to remind him to transfer the funds over.

Fh is financially retarded. I am so much better at saving when I need to and I don't think he knows the meaning of saving. If he want something ge buys it. Needless to say he gives me money every week to put away for the wedding and he's already informed me that I will be in charge of paying the bills when we move in together.

FH for sure. If he spends 1.00 on a pack of gum, he writes it down in this little notebook that he has. When I ask why, he tells me I have to learn how to budget. My idea of budgeting is checking my bank account online once a day. I'm pretty terrible when it comes to financial responsibility.

FH is definitely better with money when it comes to saving and investing. But he's not so good when it comes to impulse purchases especially if it's something related to his hobbies.

I think we're both very similar when it comes to money. We save, but we also don't deprive ourselves when we really want something (he's a little better at this than I am). I feel we both work very hard and thus deserve to have things we like. For now we have separate accounts, and when we get married we'll have a joint account, but I think we should also keep our own accounts- I don't want to feel guilty every time I buy a pair of shoes, especially since we both make about the same and contribute equally.

We are both good with it! But when it comes to wedding I am more realistic about how much we need to save

We're both good at it, but differently (if that makes sense). FH is better when it comes to spending money - mainly because he just doesn't. However I'm the one the does the bills. I HATE when a bill is paid late. So I handle all of that!

I am better in terms of planning and thinking a head. My FH is a little less practical and more impulsive. Luckily we sort of balance. He likes to make people happy so sometimes he doesn't say no or say something is too much when he probably should. He tends to do the 'We'll make it work' I'm the 'NO WAY, we cant afford that!' person.
