30 gowns later and STILL NO WEDDING DRESS!!! NEED HELP!!

I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND MY DRESS!!! What is wrong with me??? I've tried on over 30 gowns already and only one has even come close to being 'the one'!! I feel like I'm running out of time so I'm starting to get really nervous! Anyone else have trouble finding their gown?

I don't know if part of the problem is just that I'm not happy with my weight right now and I just feel like NOTHING looks good on me!! And I just can't picture myself at my normal, thinner weight (which I WILL BE by the wedding) when I'm trying on the gowns... what should I do? Should I just keep shopping, take a break, what?

What's pissing me off the most is that these friggin places don't let me take PICTURES in the gowns which would REALLY help!!! Please tell me where you went for your gown where they let you photograph yourself in the gowns you tried on!!! (besides David's)

Lidia's in copaigue. She also has the names of the designers still in the dress.

sweetie, I went through the exact same thing. I must have gone to at least 20 different salons. It was suprisingly impossible to find a lace dress. This also includes all over NYC, not only Long Island.
It wasn't until I upped my price range, sad to say, that I found the dress I always wanted. Have you considered that? You can go to a more expensive salon and ask to buy the sample.
I didn't realize price made such a difference but it does...

Since I've been to all these stores, maybe you can tell me what you are looking for (if you know) and I can help you?

I haven't found THE dress yet either and I'm a couple of weeks after you. I keep telling myself, I will find it when I least expect it!

I got my gown from Valentina's in Brooklyn. They would only get me take a picture of it once I put a deposit down.

This is what I get everywhere I go... except Lidia's... I forgot my camera so I didn't even ask.... I WILL DEFINTELY BE GOING BACK THERE!!!

My wedding is in July and I still have not ordered my dress. I plan to do it this weekend.

Glad to know that as a (hopefully) July 2004 bride to be I'm not the ONLY one who hasn't gotten her gown yet (though I have to work on that right after the holidays!)

I'm probably the pickest person I know (being critical about themselves) so I have a feeling this is going to be my toughest part of wedding planning.

(I too am planning on losing a good amount of weight b/f July '04 .. I KNOW I will do it .. so am reluctant to try anything on right now . ugh!!)

I got my gown at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. They didn't let me take pics until I had a deposit on my gown. RK in Manhattan allows you to take pics when you try on.

I thought I was going to have a tough time picking a style but it turned out to be a cinch!

What I did was looked at my current wardrobe, picked out dresses I liked and dresses that when I wear them I get compliments, and started to piece together the 'why'. Once I figured out why I liked them and what was flattering on me, I scoured the web and found dresses that matched the specs.

Make a list and go try them on, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I'm getting married the same day as you & don't have a dress yet either. I haven't seen any pictures that I like completely.

I'm going to try RK soon, but I need to take off from work to go & I migh tnot be able to do that right now because other people will be out.

My mom got the first dress she tried on, but I know that won't be me.

If you can get into Manhattan, I suggest RK- I've heard good things & they have a big selection.

Are the 30 dresses all similar? Maybe you ned to completely rethink the type of sillouhuete or neckline or something.

Or maybe try david's jsut to get an idea of why style looks good on you since you can try on your actuall size there, ( i think ) and not just the sample size.

Upping the price range also worked for me although I hate to give that advice. The
I think it helps to even just try on the better made gowns and see what looks good, than work your way down. I only wound up paying about $400 more than my upper limit. I also think the individualized attention helps you narrow down the options better than a place like RK where you do it yourself. I hope that is not an offensive comment. Obviously I don't know what you can spend but I just know it worked for me.

Many of the new lines will be out next month - maybe you will see something you like. I also don't think you can go by photos - I would never have chosen my dress if I just saw it in a photo. And try on all different kinds of dresses - there was no way I was getting a strapless dress but guess what I ended up with!

I give you TONS of credit. I'm the week after you (or possibly the same day, I may change my date) and I haven't even begun shopping for dresses.

Don't worry too much about it, otherwise, you're not going to like anything. Maybe focus on something else for a few weeks, then go back to it.
