3.5 weeks to go!!! I need labor vibes ladies!!!

AAAAAaaaaaahhh!!! I can't believe it! Well... I talked to the Dr. office about a couple of things this morning. I asked about the Amniotic fluid... they said not to worry about anything being wrong with the baby. My fluid is still in the normal range, just at the high end. She said they checked that at 20 weeks, and if something was wrong it would of shown up then. (Thank god!) Also, I asked about inducing labor in general, how that works. They basically said they won't induce before 39 weeks. I'm sure if he was EXTREMELY big they would??? So, if my baby is too big at that point I'll probably have to have a C-section. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm scared of giving birth no matter what. I always have been, but there are pro's and con's for either way you deliver in my opinion. But it really is looking like a C-section if he doesn't come early on his own. What do you girls think? I'm kind of hoping he comes on his own early!

They thought Damien was going to be a really big baby too, but they let me try a vaginal birth first. I ended up having complications and needed an emergency c-section anyway, but you can try and have the baby vaginally first.

JMO, but you should consider a v-birth since the recovery is typically a lot easier and I know your family is not close by to help you.
Induction is not always the best thing. You should really read up on all of these options before deciding.

Well, I don't think they would induce me at 39 weeks. I think they said that's when I would find out how big he is at that point, and we would have to decide if I should have a C-section or try a V-birth. I don't think they'll induce unless it's REALLY necessary. I don't want to be induced... I just don't want him to be too big and get stuck if I try with a V-birth. The nurse that does the ultrasounds said that when they measure the weight of the baby it only fluctuates by a 1 lb. more or less. It's never off by 2-3 lbs. So, my baby is either close to 7.5 lbs right now, or 9.5 lbs. Who really knows though! That's why I would like to have him a little early. Not right this minute, but soon! Just so I feel better about the whole thing. But... he's going to come when he wants to whether I like it or not!!!

This is completely untrue, especially after the baby reaches 8 pounds, and then it becomes even more innaccurate.

I've said it before, but my friend was induced at 37 weeks because her baby was allegedly 10+ pounds, and she ended up being a 5 pounder.

Ditto what everyone else said. And as for my own experience, they told me, even while I was in the triage room of L&D, that Gianna was over 8 pounds and I was having a 'big baby'. And lo and behold guess what, she was 7 lbs. 7 oz and was 'tiny'. All the clothes I thought were too small, were too big!!

I never believe when they tell you the baby is 'such and such' -- they told my cousin her baby was over 9 lbs and the baby ended up being 6!!!

As for induction -- I was going to be induced on my due date because of the GD, but since my water broke 5 days early, I had to be induced then. From my own experience, it wasn't bad -- I didn't have pitocin though. I had cervidel (sp?) and I was one of the lucky ones who went quickly!!!

Im hoping to be induced at 39 weeks IF ( only if) the baby is ready to be born..( ex.. I'm dialated enough etc,,)
I would never want him out unless he was ready.. I only hope he at that time

Same here. They thought my son was a pound more than he really was.
Personally, the c-section was easier than the 13 hrs of labor
