I liked that the author went well beyond what is usually expected in this sort of book..but at the same time, the ending didnt add to the story. So my vote is no.

I like the fact he got a taste of his own medicine -- tying him up and beating him and letting him feel the fear of dying with the fire. She saved his life by cutting his hands off; however, I was disappointed that he was able to resume his life and his profession as a teacher.

I was disappointed that she got back with Ian. It was obvious that he was in love with her- but I wasn't so sure that she loved him. Also the end with M was too perfect of an ending. M killed Frannie by accident and she almost killed M by accident.

I didn't like the cutting of the hands off bit. And I was greatly disturbed by the way she fell for M, and the things she submitted to for him. They were so far from my reality that it's hard for me to understand why anyone would willingly do them.

I didn't like the whole training room bit -- drugging him up and cuffing him. The cutting the hands off part.... I found it comical - not sure why, but I laughed (does that make me evil??). I guess I just didn't expect it and it caught me off guard.
I thought the ending was ok.

I really liked the ending. She emphasized through out the book that M's first love was the piano. Without his hands, he is not able to do what he cherishes most which is playing the piano. Even if he didn't get convicted I think he is paying for it in some way.

I thought the ending was a little much. And a little unrealistic. I wasn’t sure if I was behind her being that powerful – it had me a nervous wreck though with the candles and the whole bit! I also touched base on the fact that he wouldn’t be able to play the piano…that was an interesting little touch.
