4 Readers, 1 Poem - is that too much? POLL
Hi again!
Gotta love all the details involved in wedding planning!
Here's the scenario - we're getting married at our hall and are having a short, approx. 30 minute ceremony. We have 1 poem. I would like to include a family member(s) to read the poem to make the ceremony more personal. At first I wanted 2 readers, my Godmother, and FH's Grandma who is the matriarch of his family (such an amazing woman), BUT - FH doesn't want to slight his other Grandma.
Soooo, he suggested that all 4 of our Grandmas read the poem, so they are all included and there are no hurt feelings.
We would break the poem up like this:
“The Art of Marriage”
by --Wilfred A. Peterson
A good marriage must be created.
In the art of marriage, the little things are big things...
******
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say, 'I love you,' at least once each day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
******
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
******
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
My question - is 4 readers for one poem silly? Will it look odd? Or, is it a nice touch?
Help!
Thank you!![]()
