4th- DId Nora NEED to go thru that to ease her guilt?
Nora felt a pyschiological need to finally 'be there' for her sister after the murder. I think that she felt she deserved punishment for the way she just left her sister. But does physically pain help mental pain?

I think that is what made her so much like Franny. Franny also thought that pain would help ease her guilt over the death of the brother. I don't believe that it works and I think that Nora really liked all of the S&M stuff.

All through the book I kept screaming someone needs to get Nora into counseling! I don't think that physical pain heals mental pain. In this case I think it added to the mental pain.

She definitely needed to go to counseling. BEsides the M thing having her tubes tied to punish herself for having an abortion showed that she had issues.

I agree with all of you. Both Nora and Franny needed counseling.

They definately both needed some sort of help. When you looked a little deeper you can see that the 2 sisters werent that different after all. Nora had to do this to ease her guilt more than her pain I think.
