Has anyone ever done this??? It looks really interesting .. and like it might be tons of fun.
No way I could ever run a marathon .. so this might be a great alternative .. I can bike .. might even be okay to handle 42 miles!
But I'm wondering .. is this fun .. or just a mob-scene??? And how do you get around .. I mean .. getting in and out of the city with a bike .. and you finish in a totally different spot than where you started.
My dad and brothers do this every year and have a great time. Good luck!

My DH has done this a couple times. I'm still trying to get myself to do it! We planned to last year and it rained so we didn't go. It starts in Manhattan I think and ends in Staten Island. I know in the past DH has taken a cab or the train into the city and then gets a ride back from S.I. From what he's told me it's only a mob scene if you are in the front pack and competing against eachother. I've seen little kids doing it (like 7 yrs old!). We're thinking of doing it together this year - I'm not sure of the 42 miles though...I get exhausted just thinking about it!

I wish I could do that, but I tried to bike 8 on my HM & I had to keep stopping!
An acquaintance of mine did that years ago & she enjoyed it.
They clsoe off certain roads, I think, like they do for the marathon, inlcuding bridges, or at least parts of bridges.

My DH is planning to do this for the first time this year. It sounds so awesome, I really wish I could do it with him. He says he might not do it so when can do it together for the first time. But if he does do it, I will probably pick him up at the end in SI because if not, they have to sit there and wait as hundreds of people take the ferry back!
