A COLD SORE!! NOOOOOOOOO! Anybody know of anything that really speeds up the healing time. It seems that when I get one it's not a tiny little thing it takes up my whole face. UGH! It's my own fault, being in the sun, being stressy bessy, not drinking enough water and not getting enough sleep. I went and bought some Abreva last night....$16 ouchie. It better work. FH said that he will still love and still marry me with a big huge scabby place on my nose...he better..lol.

I only touch it to put the medicine on it, then wash my hands. I'm hoping that it 's just some water blisters from getting a little bit sunburned over the w/e.

abrevia works really well - and take TONS of vitamin e and lysine - my mom and i get cold sores and I've found that nothing works better than loading up on lysine (lycine? - it's in the vitamin stores)

I got one the week before my engagment party. Go to the dermetologiust right away and he will give you a perscription. Mine gave me valtrex and as long as it is not to a head yet it will go away.

Call a doctor (specifically a dermatologist if you have one) and ask him/her to prescribe Valtrex or something like it ASAP! See if they can prescribe it over the phone to the pharmacy without you going to see them for an appt. Keep putting the abreva on it in the meantime and try not to touch it! You should be fine in 5 days. Just try and get the prescription to speed up the process.

Also a dermatologist can give you a cortisone injection and it should make the swelling go down overnight. Just try not to stress.

I agree on ALL! for starters its the stress that is bringing the cold sore out....so take a breather. I get them ALL the time! What I do is Lysine pills...I double up and get a cream such as Zovirax,denavir (prescriptions) or Abreva(OTC). I also use Valtrex in pill form and the min I felt that tingle I would pop one and by next day its almost gone. So far that has been the best one and most effective. It kills it instantly. I feel for you!
Just remember...(easier said than done) but try not to stress to much!
