I've read on here before that in suffolk co. there is a law that you can cancel as long as it is six months or more in advance.... Is this just for halls? does anyone know if this is just for halls or if it is for for any vendor?

Re: 6 month cancellation policy
what??? You have to check your contracts. Its not really a Suffolk County Law. I work at a catering hall, and yes you can cancell at anytime, but its up to the place & their contracts whether they give you your money back. Same goes with vendors

Oh - okay. I thought that someone had posted on here that it was a law and that even if your contract said otherwise that they had to allow you to cancel if it was 6 months or more ahead of time. The story they were telling was in relation to a hall, I just didn't know if it carried over to vendors as well....
I too believe there is a law that has been discussed on the boards multiple times that is in place for suffolk county for catering hall cancellations in advance of 6 months. I do not know if it applies to other vendors.

Read this thread, but I don't think it applies to anyone other than caterers.

Thanks girls - this is helpful!
BTW -- I'm not calling anything off! I just had a vendor I am thinking about changing and was wondering if this law might come into play at all.
