Is anyone having a wedding out-of-town where most guests will need a hotel room? I'm getting married in Montauk (I'm from Nassau County) and nearly everyone plans to get hotel rooms. I highly doubt people are constantly checking my wedding page so I was going to send something this month that lists the hotels where we have special rates/room block pricing etc. I'm not sure how everyone who know to book otherwise.
Is anyone else doing this?
Tnx! Laura

Re: 6 month letters
Are you sending out STDs? most people put the info with that, rather then bombard guests with information that might confuse them.

Re: 6 month letters
I sent out save-the-dates about 6 months ago (we had an 18 month engagement). It was there that I listed my wedding website but I'm going to guess by now nearly everyone has forgotten about that website & will need info. Since people need to book hotel rooms soon (some of my room block prices expire before I will send my invites) I can't think of a better way other than to send a letter. I was thinking of adding information that wont be in my invites such as weather in Montauk in September (we have a lot of oot from other states etc. etc.) Thoughts?

Are most of these people on your FB page? If so, I'd send a general FB message to them...they'll already be on their computer, so they're apt to checking out whatever links you send their way.
Or see if you can extend your room block expiration date so that you can include the info in your invites.

Re: 6 month letters
I called the guests that I knew were coming from OOT and told them the hotel books fast, might be smart to book now. And then did. I wouldn't send another letter, just do an email or call to those you're closest to.

Re: 6 month letters
I was actually trying to book Montauk Yacht Club for the weekend before your wedding earlier this week
Anyways, can you call hotel and see how many people made reservations already? I'd check the progress because people can surprise you.
Maybe send a cute e-mail to everyone saying you are getting excited for the big day, looking forward to all the events of the weekend, etc.and just wanted to send a kind reminder that if they haven't booked their hotel yet, they should try to do so as soon as possible to get a good rate/a room within the block. I'm positive that people will appreciate the e-mail reminder.

We're getting married in Setauket and live in Nassau...I'm just sending the info out with my invitations (which are being sent out 2 months in advance to accommodate for this).

Re: 6 month letters
My family is on LI and in FL, FH's family is in Buffalo, FL and CT...so our OOT'ers account for about 70% of our guest list. Because of the amount of OOT'ers we have, and people that will need to fly here, I sent out letters about the hotel 8 months in advance along with like 10 local attractions for people who might want to stay the weekend so they can plan accordingly. The info is also on my invitation but people who need to fly in need probably more than 8 weeks notice. JMO
