72 days to go should I change RH

72 days to go should I change RH

We are supposed to have our wedding aboad a steamship on Lake George, through the entire process I feel like I have been a burden to the wedding coordinator, I call and ask for info and it's take multiple requests before I actually get it, I call or email and she doesn't get back to me. Last time I spoke to her requesting clarifcation of the bar packages and the timeline of events(ceremony/recption) she told me - your wedding is so far away you don't really need this info yet, but she would send it anyway - that was 7/16 - about 3 months from the wedding - I don't think that's too early - i need to know what time to put on the invites, the order of events for the program, etc.

Well it's been over two weeks and she still hasn't sent the info.

I am fed up, and then to top it off, yesterday I realize that the bar prices she quoted me are 30%-50% higher than any other Rh in the area.

I just checked and another place that FH and I liked is still available on our date, I am very seriously considering changing venues - I would have to redo the invites, but they were DIY and pretty simple so that isn't a huge deal, but I'm wondering if I am going to be stressing myself out too much in the long run and should just deal with the awful woman and over priced bar at the original place.

this is the alternate venue, Beardslee Castle

The castle is GORGEOUS- but a boat is unique!

I would call your original RH and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor...

there isn't much you can do about the bar pricing unless there is a different price on your contract.

I would do what you feel is right in your gut!

Are you going to lost alot of money on the original venue?

Good Luck!

Do the castle. It is so cool there and has great history! Go for it! However, it's supposed to be haunted by a lady in white. For me that would be a plus but some people are botherd by stuff like that.

we can get a full refund up to 30 days before the wedding. I will definately be calling the manager to let him/her know why I'm cancalling, if I do cancel.

The new venue looks amazing, but have you already paid your current venue a lot? Are you responsible for the balance or a portion of the balance if you cancel? I'd seriously look at your contract VERY well before making this decision.

ETA: ok we posted at the same time but I see now you can cancel (without penalty?) so long as it's 30 days before.

Nina,
I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time! There's no reason it should be that way!

Have you sent out your original invites? If not I would totally change the venue! That castle looks amazing!

Would you be able to get all your vendors there? Any strings attached to getting the new place?

Good luck!

Is your gut telling you to change it??? If yes then do it. I would be worried if this is the way you are being treated now how will you be treated the day of? I always feel that how people act toward you the first second you meet them is the way they will be...I would change RH

OMG Beardlsee is right near where I grew up!!!!! (Dolgeville, NY)

It's a bit of a distance from Lake George though! I've actually never been there for dinner, but I have friends from HS who go to their Halloween party every year! Did you know that it's haunted???

I love Lake George and I'm assuming your wedding would be on the Lac du Saint Sacrement which would be beautiful. If you really feel like you are getting way too much of a runaround and your gut is telling you to switch venues then I would.

Thanks ladies,

My gut is telling me to make the move, I spoke to our photographer and ceremony musician and they said it was no problem. The boat came with a band, so we would have to find a DJ/Band available - but at this point I'm kinda willing to iPod it if I have to.

The contracts says Cancellation up to one month prior to sailing, no refunds after this date. It doesn't say anything about fees accessed for canceling.

OMG OMG I totally know THE BEST band for your wedding and they are CHEAP!! They played at my sister's wedding in May! FM me for details! They are soooo awesome, all her guests raved about them! They are local to the Beardslee Castle area!

I'd love to help you out!

I used to go to the castle all the time when I was in college to see shows - I love it there!

Our guests are mostly coming from Saratoga, Albany and Montgomery County, so the castle is pretty much the same distance or a little closer for everyone - it will be further for 2 of my siblings, but I think they'll be OK with it

I'd make the switch, as long as your invites can be changed with a minimum of hassle.

I want to say move the venue, but do you want to give it one last try before you make the change? Call up this woman's superior and fry her a$$ make it clear that you are at your wit's end and you will not think twice about switching venues if she doesn't provide the customer service a wedding coordinator is supposed to provide!!!
