83 cent stamp?

83 cent stamp?

I had my invitation weighed and I need 83 cents in postage. Do they make an 83 cent stamp? Or do they have an 80 cent and 3 cent (preferrably love) stamp? Anyone in a similar situation?

There is no 83 cent stamp that I've ever seen. The Love stamp comes in 60 cents and 37 cents. You could use one of each for 97 cents an envelope and it would look well coordinated.

I had to get an .83 stamp for my invites..there was only 1 choice. It is an old lady with a hat, black & white only, no color. It actually wasn't that bad. It just kind of blends into the envelope.

Oooh my mistake... here is the 83 cent stamp. Sorry for the misinformation before...

In case you are curious who she is (I was, so I looked it up!) here is a brief bio:

Puliter Prize-winning author Edna Ferber spent her childhood in Appleton WI and used it as the setting for her early stories The Homely Heroine and A Bush League Hero.

Ferber was a prolific novelist, her work the inspiration for numerous Broadway plays and Hollywood films. Among her best known works are So Big (for which she won the Pulitzer prize in 1924), Show Boat , Cimarron, Giant and Ice Palace.

I don't know how I feel about having an old lady stamp. This makes no sense. Why would that be the only 83 cent stamp? Why not at least an American flag or something?

well, you can combine several nice stamps up to get the price of mailing. You don't have to use only 'one' stamp.

Gee, Edna Ferber is homely. She needed a make over. Thanks for the info about the stamps though

I dunno - it almost seems kitschy to have an Edna Ferber stamp...people will wonder who she is. Maybe if any of her writing appeals to you her stamp might make more sense. But why Edna?!?? Why not a flag, or a tree, or something less - kitch!
