let's say you concieve on march 1, when is the baby due - on or about Nov 1 or Dec 1?
do you date back 2 weeks prior to conception (1st day of last period, i.e feb 15th) and then add 40 weeks?

Re: 9 month/10 month confusion
November 22! I would go by the first date of your last period to get the most accurate date. I think it would be hard to know the exact date of conception.
The pregnancy statement of 9 months is false. You actually carry for 40 weeks which is closer to 10 months then it is 9. And if you're late you go well over 10 months.

Re: 9 month/10 month confusion
Due dates are calculated as 40 weeks from the date of the LMP (or more accurately, 38 weeks from the date of conception, if you know it). That 40 weeks is just about 9 months, since months are slightly less than 4.5 weeks long each.

Re: 9 month/10 month confusion
thanks so much. i was just curious as this always confuses me. when you say '40 weeks from the date of the LMP' does that mean 40 weeks from day 1 or last day? not that it matters all that much as mine only lasts for 2-3 days.

It's from the beginning (first day) of your period. If you really do know when you conceived (i.e. ovulation tracking, IUI, IVF date, etc.), then you can count 38 weeks from then, and with your example, you'd get to Nov. 22, just like AliKing said. If, like most folks, you can't pinpoint the conception date, then you just count 40 weeks from the first day of the LMP to get an estimated due date (basically, they assume that you ovulated/conceived on the 14th day after your LMP started).
