90 Minute Cocktail Hour or Longer Reception

90 Minute Cocktail Hour or Longer Reception

My RH is giving me the option for free of having either a 90 minute cocktail hour or to add an extra half hour onto the end of my reception.

The ceremony and everything is happening at the RH so we don't have to drive anywhere, but I don't want to do pictures beforehand.

I think the longer CH is the way to go, so we can take pics, relax and not be rushed, but FH def wants to have a longer reception. He thinks people will get restless being in the CH room for such a long time. I disagree because they will have plenty of food and drinks available to them and space to stay inside and/or weather permitting go outside as well.

He feels that since there is no travel time, and the ceremony should only be about 20 minutes, that we can get everything done in the hour.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

I had asked the same question a few weeks ago and what we decided was the for us it would be better to do the extended CH. It will give us more time and not feel rushed to take pics to get to the CH... this way we can take all the pics we need to, and still get to relax and enjoy some of our CH (even if it's just the extended 30 mins of it).

I choose the hour and 1/2 cocktail hour. I also did not have my ceremony at the Inn, so it really benefited me. They also started my cocktail hour a little earlier as guest started to arrive, and no one was restless!

Longer reception. In my opinion, cocktail hours are long enough

I think the extra time during the cocktail hour because everyone is there already.....plus alot of people like the cocktail hour and wount mind a half hour extra there but if you add an extra half on the end some people will leave early

I am getting married at the RH and going a 90 minute CH as well. It gives you more time for pictures AND the CH food is always the best!

People try not to eat too much during CH since they expect to be fed during the reception, so I would say extend the reception instead of the CH, unless you want people totally full already before they get their meals.

Def longer reception!!! We went to a wedding recently that had over a 90 minute CH and the guests started getting restless after about 75 mins because no one really wanted to eat anything else but there was really nothing going on. Everyone can always do more dancing :)

If your doing pics in between I would add the time to the cocktail hour so you can take pics without being rushed and still enjoy some of it. You don't want to miss it.

Extend the reception. Just went to a wedding with an 1 hour and 1/2 cocktail and it felt like such a long time and some people left the reception early because it ended so late

Extended cocktail hour. I went to a wedding at the Inn in May. All of the guests were saying how they loved the extended cocktail hour. My FH also was happy when we found out we had the CH for 90 minutes.

We opted for a longer reception. We are probably going to have about 300 guests and wanted to have enough time to greet everyone. We are also going to have a ton of food and I wanted to give everyone some more time to breathe in between
