Is anyone else having a horrible time finalizing their guest list??? This has been the toughest thing yet....we only want 130 guests but by FH has so many cousins that we are struggling with who to invite and who not to invite..
Do you think A and B lists work? I mean how does that work? B lists don't get Save The Dates and just receive an invite really late in the game??
I am seriously struggling with this and we NEED to send save the dates ASAP since were less than 9 months away from the wedding!!!
HELP!

Re: A and B Invite Lists
I am having the same issue! I have so many cousins, many of whom live far away and I never see, but how do I invite a few and not all? I am going to have to do the dreaded A list and B list as well. I wish I had more words of wisdom for you, but I am in the same boat! So I hope someone else knows how it works!

Re: A and B Invite Lists
We didn't make A & B lists... If you made the list, you get an invite. But our issue is his firehouse--it's either all of nothing with wedding invites. His house is a double house too, so that could be like 100 more people (if each said yes and brought a date)

Re: A and B Invite Lists
we (sadly ) are doing A/B lists. we would LOVE for everyone to attend but it would just be CRAZY and also unlikely since 1/2 of them live outside of NY. that being said i am sending STDs to everyone who is DEF invited ('A's' LOL) then im mailing the A's the invite as usual and having them RSVP about 5/6 weeks out. as i get no's from the A's i will send out B's to make up for it until we get to the magic number. does this make sense?? i know it sounds bad but we just couldn't possibly have EVERYONE (our immediateeeee fams alone are over 100 so once great aunt so and so is added on its just chaos LOL!).

Re: A and B Invite Lists
We only want 120ppl so I understand! We are doing A & B and 150 invited total... There aren't a lot of B's because we kind of have a hopeful feeling that the older out of towners wont be taken the trip for sunny FL to NY in March. Good Luck!

Re: A and B Invite Lists
I wouldn't send an STD to someone unless they are def invited, so B listers shouldn't receive those

Re: A and B Invite Lists
Thanks so much for the advice ladies!
I think we will just keep a small B list maybe 10-15 people and then send out invites as we start to receive no's.
Now telling people their kid's cannot join is going to be a whole other issue!

Re: A and B Invite Lists
We did A and B lists, but so did not need to. We also cut alot of people off our list and did not need to. If we invited everyone we wanted, we would have made our minimum. We did not only NOT meet our minimum, but we had 9 no shows. Just do one list. Only 3/4 of the ppl you invite will actually come. There were ppl we thought who would come for sure that did not.

Re: A and B Invite Lists
Ugh I cannot believe people just did not show up!
This makes me so nervous!
The thing with my FH side is that they are all local so I am almost positive they will all make it...it's more my side that we might have a few that cannot make it from out of state.
I guess I really cannot stress about it and just need to send them and see what happens!

Re: A and B Invite Lists
we had A / B (and even C!) lists which was the reason why we did NOT send out STD! We didn't want to be faced with B & C guests asking why they never got a STD.

Re: A and B Invite Lists
We have the same problem. We come from huge families, have our own groups of friends and RH only holds 220. We heard that when RHs say 20% don't show isn't often true. We may just invite the max and hope for the best.

Re: A and B Invite Lists
I wish I could just call people and ask them if they plan on coming so I can skip the A and B process and just not even send them invites lol!
We could invite the max which I think is 175 but our budget only has room for 130 :( I would much rather spend the rest of that money on our honeymoon which is going to be in Greece!
Nice hotel on the beach....or that cousin who doesn't stop talking at the wedding....hmmmmm????? LOL

Re: A and B Invite Lists
this stresses me out too. ive heard of having two dates on response cards...one for a lists and one for b lists. so that noone gets offended (or catches on that they might be a b lister). is anyone else doing this? i think this might be too complicated...

Re: A and B Invite Lists
I actually might do that! Someone mentioned it to me and I might just print X amount of response cards with a later date for the exact amount of B list people I have.
Hopefully Save The Date's dont come up with the B list people! I guess they have to understand though that if you have a big family and you want to invite them at least you prepared in hopes they would be able to come.
