A couple of my friends are coming to my parents' house for Thanksgiving...
What should I tell them to bring? My Mom said I could ask one of them to bring mini pastries, but is that too much to ask?

mini pastries is fine ... she could just go to the bakery and pick stuff up ... it's easy.
