>What time do they open in the morning, and what time do they close? >Is there a time of day you CAN'T go b/c it is too busy - like 6pm? Do you need an appointment every time? >How much does it cost >Is there a trainer working out w/ you? >and how much does it cost?
I figured I HAD to ask since there is one so close to my house I can walk there!
Thanks much...

Re: A few questions about Curves...
I get the impression that some of them are a little different in their policies than others. I went to the one on Nassau Blvd and did not like it. But I have friends that rave about it. The one by me was 59.00 to join then you had 2 options 1) monthly 49.99 - but no privileges to go to other locations, you must pay them each month and they can raise your cost at any time. 2) yearly - it was 39.99 and you can go to any location and they never raise your rate, they must deduct it directly from you account only.
I went in it was a small room with I think 13 stations in a circle. There was no one working out - but I was told you just come - and watch the people to figure out what to do (as I said this doesn't seem to be typical) My friends say elsewhere they had someone take them around to the various equiptment.
There is music and a voice that say time to switch (every 30 sec.)
It is a 30 mins workout. They close for a few hours each day in the middle of the day.

Re: A few questions about Curves...
Curves in Garden City hours are 8:00am - 1:00pm then 3:30pm-8:00pm M-T Friday they close at 7:00 Sat. they are only open from 8:00am - 12:00pm. (I'm not sure if that's the same time for every Curves) You can go at anytime. The way curves works is that you use each machine for 30 seconds & then you switch. You go around 3 times then you have 12 stretches to do afterwards. Then you are done. It's only for a half-hour. (a worker there will take you around the first visit then, you just do it on your own) You do get quite a work out & coming from someone who was NEVER into working out. I love it!!! If you do a yearly membership it's $ 39.00 a month. And you can go to any Curves.
Go in there when you want & have them give you all the details. Go dressed for working out. And if you are into it you can start right away. You do have to call for your first appoitment so that the woman can show you the ropes.
Was this enough??

Re: A few questions about Curves...
IrishTracy - do you go there? I went intending to join but got this girl who had no interest in telling me about the place - and told me that they didn't give you anyone to show you the program - just to watch someone and follow the group around. She was only interested in getting me to sign up or to leave so she could get back to her phone conversation...lol.
Is it crowded there - b/c there was no one there when I went on a weekday about 9 am. They said it is never crowded.

Re: A few questions about Curves...
I only started going on March 3. I get weighed & measured next week (I think)
Rob-luvs-me-Did you call before you went? I did & the girl was happy to show me everything. Was she a young brunette? It can get crowded. I prefer when no one is there. I like a space between me & the next peson.

Re:'A'few'questions'about'Curves...
When you sign up they schedule your first workout where the trainer takes you through the circuit and shows you how you do everything (at least they did with me and my mom)-- they also recommend that the second time you come you tell them so that they can keep an eye out on you.

Re: Re:'A'few'questions'about'Curves...
I did have an appointment - she made me stand there for about 10 mins while she spoke to her friend then told her friend she had an apointment and would call her back in like 5 mins - and was not friendly.
I KNOW you are supposed to get that stuff b/c 2 of my bm's belong (not to one near me though) and LOVE it.
I have heard some mixed reviews about the one by me - so I know my experience was not unusual. I was disappointed b/c I planned on joining that day.
There were two girls there when I got there but one left when I walked in - I don't remember what she looked like just that she was younger.

Re: Re:'A'few'questions'about'Curves...
I would definitely go to one where they walk you through things. My first visit the trainer went through with me, and the second time I was there they kept an eye on me. The trainers should always be out on the floor watching anyway to see if anyone is doing one of the exercises wrong and to keep 'morale' up.
If they are not offering this at the location near you maybe you would be better off at one a little further away? I know there are 3 near me that I could have chosen from...
