A funny thing happened.................................a little long, sorry

At my niece's birthday on Saturday, my FMIL approached me, alone, and we talked for a WHILE.....she said she feels bad that we don't talk as much and how I'm her daughter-in-law and she always enjoys when she and I talk. She said that she wants to help in any way she can, by helping to make baskets and whatnot for the wedding and it kinda struck me because there's been animosity for a long time, so I'm not sure if she REALLY wants to help or is trying to lull me into a false sense of security before she does something else. I feel bad for her because she's been through so much with the death of FFIL, but I'm not sure what to believe, my parents don't want help since I'm the only child, they want to, and can handle doing what they need to on their own, as I've been helping as much as I can with everything, but I just dunno what to do, I told FMIL that we really appreciate it and if we need anything we'll let her know, but I feel like I'm in a really tough spot right now and I'm not sure what me next move should be?!? :)

if she really wants to help....then let her...even if its something small.

She's probably trying to make amends....start a relationship w/ her and talk to her more often and see where it goes

I agree- try to think of some small things to get her involved. maybe she is realizing that is important.

I would let her help, she probably trying to turn over a new leaf.

I agree. I think she would love to do the littlest thing you ask her to do. Her son is getting married so she probably wants to help in anyway she can.

Sounds like she is trying to take this time to make this right. Let her do it! It could be the start of a great relationship!
