a list for the clueless

Ok so I guess Iam completely clueless about what you need for a wedding
I know you need
a church or ceremony place
reception hall,dj, photo and video, dress, flowers, invitations tuxes veil/headpiece
but girls what else.....?
I have only been to a few weddings and never REALLY paid attention to the details and the weddings were sooo long ago.
does anyone have an WEDDING LIST FOR DUMMIES?
that would make a great book!
like gifts for bridal party I never realized and do you need corsage for mothers and grandmothers I am so confused

favors, shoes, hair and makeup, ceremony music. def gifts for the BP. corsages for mothers and grandmothers, boutoneires (sp?) for fathers and grandfathers, also for anyone who may be playing a special role in the ceremony liie someone doing a rading or handing out programs. Depending on your religion, unity candle, boquet for mary, huppah, ketubah, kiddish cup, etc. Cake cutter/serving set, cake topper, signing in book (a lot of this is optional, but customary), out of town guest bags, something to throw at the end (rice, birdseed rosepetals, bubbles). shoes, lingerie, flowers for the ceremony site including large arrnagement for the front and pew pows or arrangements, a throwaay bouquet (usually included), rings, of course, an officiant, thank yous for engagement gifts are always a good idea, somempeople get dance lessons, anything else that's cultural that you may want to include like jordan almonds or a money tree, etc. ....That's all I can think of..
a planner or a book would be agreat help. My favrotie books

'Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette'

and the BRIDE's magazine wedding planner.

If you're Jewish 'The New Jewish Wedding' by Anita Diamant is also an incredible book. I haven't found a similar book for Catholic Weddings, so if anyone knows one, please let me know.

Hope that helped a little!

Re: a list for the clueless

I went to the knot.com and weddingchannel.com, took both of the sample checklists they give you, compiled them in an excel spreadsheet, then deleted what I didn't need, and personalized it all to make sense for our wedding.

Then I divided it month by month, and every month I stick that mnths list on the fridge at home and bulletin board at work.

I am typically not this organized, but I was having anxiety that I was going to miss or forget something, and this helped ease that alot. Plus, It's fun to cross things off any list!!
