A little annoyed...Duet - you can't meet with the photographers prior?!

First- you can look at all their work online for each photog.

Also- you get to meet them at your epics shoot.

yep and since they always keep one photog as a backup, you will always have the option to switch to at least one other person if you really aren't happy.

This is my personal opinion, take it or leave it.

And this is no comment on the quality of work by Duet. I have never used them nor seen thier work so I have no opiion.

What I do want to say is I would be wary, in general.

The reason why you dont know who your photog is, is because THEY have no idea. As the wedding gets closer then they assign whoever it is who is free for that day.

Basically companies that work like this dont really have photogs. They sub out the work to their network of photogs. Your day comes and they look to see who is free.

Again, EVERY one of the photogs can be amazing. But its something that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If I were you I would ask them why they dont know who the photog is, or why YOU cant pick one out. NOT to be snarky, but for a real answer to the question.

But I dont like the fact that your one day is left to the whim of whoever is available. Is it some guy just out of photog school? Is the veteran who had no work that weekeknd and is pickup some extra work? Is it someone who has worked for them for years and only does weddings for Duet?

Just some things to think about.

that's not necessarily true. I worked with another studio, but the photog I had on my wedding day was written on our contract and selected after looking through several sample albums for each one of the photographers they have on staff. there was never any question that it would be anyone else. in addition, had we met with him at the epic shoot and not clicked, we had the option to re-select from other available photographers as well.

This is exactly why I did not book with a studio who has several photographers. With some studios you are able to see the work of the photographers and select the one you like. BUT I feel like on your wedding day they could change that and not be in the wrong. I did not want to take that chance.

I wanted to know who I was getting for my wedding.

With Duet, I hear alot of girls on LIW select the photographer that they like, so I find it odd that you are encountering this problem.

Actually, with Duet they write into your contract who your photographer is if you choose a specific one, and you meet them for the E-Pics. That way if you don't like the photographer you can try and see about switching. There are some who don't immediately chose, but you have the option of specifying in the contract which photography team you are working with.

They show you books of the examples of the photographers work, and from what I know they only work with Duet. There are examples of albums and images in many reviews here, and there is a photo gallery to look through the photographers work to see which you like.

Duet you book a specific photog and unless there is a crazy emergency then that is who you get on your wedding day. I felt like with Duet you at least got to pick your photog unlike Patken which will pick one for you based on your personality......

I had the most amazing epics and was so comfortable with my photog and he made my wedding pics better than I could ever imagine.

DUET rocks in my opinion.

Most studios that have multiple photogs you do not meet with the specific photog...but always make sure you get to pick your photog based on their work.

You can look through each photographers portfolio online or when you are at the studio you can look through their books. YOU get to pick the photographer that YOU want. I was having a hard time deciding because it was hard to choose all of DUET’s photographer’s work is amazing – so I asked the owner and he asked me a few questions, and I said that I prefer someone that was more funny then serious and he helped me pick my photographer on that!!! He also told me that if for some reason I did not like the photographer which YOU meet at your engagement shoot then you could change . . . But that never has happened!!!


I went to another photography studio where the owner picked the photographer for you maybe you have them mixed up?!!!


EDIT: Duet never subs out work - they have 5 in-house photographers.

ITA! I was never told who I was going to have he asked who I wanted based on there work and then told me who was available that day. They DO NOT pick stuff for you.

Agreed!!! I went with Duet and chose TJ. Also not only did I see the sample albums they had at their studio I requested to see an ACTUAL album of a wedding TJ shot which a bride was picking up later that week. This way it was not an aray of their best shots I wanted to see their work from start to finish. I WAS BLOWN AWAY! As were my parents. Eric had no problem getting it for me and I personally had a great meeting with them. Their work is awesome!

I actually need to clarify something I said.

When I said be wary, in general I should have been clear.

1. I do NOT know if what I said is DUET's practice. I know that places that have many photogs DO have that practice.

2. I mean, IN GENERAL be wary of COMPANIES that don't let you meet with the photog.

3. I did say I have never seen, used or met with DUET so I have no opinion if this is their practice or not. I have no opinion on the quality of their work.

I do apologize for not being more clear.
