After just getting married I thought I would share a piece of advice to upcoming brides. Be sure to spend as much time as you possibly can at your reception.
We saw each other before the ceremony and took pictures with us and the bridal party. I wanted sunset pictures so the photographer pulled us out during the appetizer course for what i thought would be 10 minute. We were outside for over half an hour. And what's worse is that the sun had set by the time we got outside so the photographer recreated the effect with lights. I kept saying I wanted to go back in and he was like '2 more seconds' or 'one more shot' By the time we got back in appetizer and salad were over and people were already dancing. We were also pulled out for extended family pictures a little later on.
My point is this. The reception is only 4 hours long. You'd be surprised at how fast it goes. That is where you need to be...at the reception with your family and friends. If you are already taking pictures before the ceremony than there is no need to take extra ones during the reception. In hindsight I didn't need those extra pictures. We had plenty of pics to choose from with thye pics he took before the wedding and during the reception. I really wish I could have gotten those forty minutes back to spend enjoying ourselves at the party.
Please keep this in mind as you plan your day.

Re: A little bridal advice
I had a similar picture experience - we missed A LOT of our reception - mostly because picture schedule hit a snag and we were behind schedule

Re: A little bridal advice
wow i never heard of a bride being pulled away to take pics during the reception. I took all my pics after the ceremony, but i also had a 4 hour gap so it was more than enough time to take all of my pictures. I took pics for over 2 hours and got to the RH about 30-45 mins before CH started so i even had time to sit back and relax.
DId you get married at the RH?

Re: A little bridal advice
thanks for the tip! may i ask, did you set up a 'first moment' when you saw FH and he saw you for the first time? I'm trying to think of an alternative to the shoulder tap. Thanks!

The videographer set that up for us. It was great. I highly recommend that. He turned around and was so taken back that he was choking back tears. We hugged each other and were both crying.
