A little dissapointed . . . . (Sorry, LONG)

. . . in my appointment w/a Liberty Travel by my house. Now I don't know what to do. I need you wonderful ladies' advice !!!

For my HM, I want the Hyatt Hawaii Hopper deal, that Metphan(our boards) told me about.
She gave me the number to her TA at Liberty, who I called. Her TA was so wonderful and informative about this deal, she was great !!!!
Problem: We live in the Bronx, and it has been difficult to get to Merrick w/my FH. Not for me, b/c I work in LI, but he works in NJ. She is available on Sundays for us to drive there, but he told me I'm no longer allowed to make us appts on Sundays until Football season is over
But yet he wants to be 100% included in booking the HM.

So anyway, to make a long story even longer, lol, I decided against my better judgement just to go to a Liberty in the Bronx, they are all the same, right? WRONG !!!!
He and I went after work yesterday, and I was so disappointed The rep didnt know about the Hyatt Hopper, or Hawaii HMs at all, she read everything straight from whatever was in the computer. I tried to be interested, but I feel that she will not be able to give me the best deal and service if she's not knowledgeable.
She was sweet, and I did give her my name and cell #. She just didn't impress us.
FH was very upset, and now says we will have to travel to LI to use the first TA that Metphan recommended that was really great and knew her stuff. I feel like a fool for ever going elsewhere

But, now i'm thinking, what if the TA we saw yesterday sees our names in the computer, and realizes we went with a different TA from the same company? Will she try to screw with our files and destroy our HM?
Am I just being paranoid? FH has the same concerns.

What should I do?

I really doubt that they would try to mess with your plans. They would lose their jobs and be in a lot of trouble. I think you're just very concerned because you want everything to be perfect. I would just go back to the person you were very happy with and try to relax. I'm sure everything will be great.

Don't be silly girl. I think you're just very concerned. You can go to as many TA as you want. They shouldn't mess w/ your flight if they are professional. Don't worry

I also had a problem with a Liberty Travel TA, but I was stupid and booked with him anyways. When I tried to go to another Liberty Travel location and have them check on my booking I was told that each office can only see the bookings that they have made. Believe it or not, there is no centralized computer that allows each location to see the other bookings. Don't worry, the TA you visited in the Bronx should not be able to see that you booked with someone else. I hope this helps you feel alittle better.

I don't think it will cause a problem. You have every right to switch travel agents if you're not happy with the service. They should be happy your staying within Liberty.
We booked our Hawaii Honeymoon with Liberty travel and loved our agent (She's in Buffalo). Do you think you could sit down with the agent in Merrick and get the skinny on the best flights available, hotel deals and all the details and bring them home for you and your FH to decide? Our agent worked out a bunch of different senerios. We then took them home and sort of hashed them out. It so important to click with the agent. We tried a couple of different ones before we found ours.

First, tell your FH that with or without him you are going to do this the right way and that might include him missing a game or two. If he picks a Jet's game over his HM planning then you need to decide if you can forever live without making plans on Sundays during football season, because it comes up every single year.

Travel agents are not all the same. I tried 2 before finding one that was able to help us with our South Africian HM. It is like in any business, some are good, some aren't. Always listen to your gut- if you have concerns don't ignore them, but don't panic either. Just go to the person you feel comfortable with, explain what is going on and then let them handle it for you.

My mom works in travel but she isn't a travel agent--I can't really explain what she does because I don't completely understnad it but she said the Hyatt thing is a Hyatt promotion-- every travel agent that deals with Hawaii should no about it-- it includes free breakfast if you stay at more than one....My friends went to an american express travel agent near Roosevelt Field and got the promotion and used their $100 off coupon from registering at Fortunoff. I guess what I am saying is you can go to any travel agent and get the Hyatt deal.

Stand your ground. Tell your FH that if he'd like to score a touchdown of his own in the bedroom, he'd better be at the TA appointment you make for Saturday on LI!! lol

Thank You, I feel so much better now, I just panicked, I guess, the more I thought about it, lol.
I will definitley make an appt w/the TA I orignally liked, and if my FH thinks football is more important, than too bad
He will just have to miss a game.
Michele, you are right, this can't go on every year during football season.
Wedbabe, lol, I think he'll choose the bedroom touchdown instead of the one on TV !!!

I wouldn't worry about it. She would risk losing her job if she did anything like that. I can relate to your frustration about scheduling appointments around football. My FH won't do any wedding stuff on Sat. because it's college football, and then Sun. is pro football. We live in NJ so it's a hike out to LI. Good thing we have most of the major stuff done! First of all, that hyatt deal has been around a very long time. Me and Bill did that when we went to Hawaii 7 years ago and stayed on 3 islands for almost 3 weeks and stayed in all the hyatts.
If this promotion has been around so long and the hyatt is considered to be such a 'popular' hotel AND hawaii such a popular wedding destination, I would say that this guy doesnt really know his job to well..
Second of all.. you really only have to go in ONCE.
Once you get alll your numbers and put together your itinerarys, what else would you have to go back for?
You can mail payments ( or charge over the phone like me) and your documents can be sent to you..
I would go with Merrick, go once and feel more comfortable that they know there buisness a little better
Oh BTW,, I dont beleive they can see what you have done at another liberty travel but just like you are allowed to shop around for dresses and music and halls.. you ARE allowed to shop for travel agents..

Liz-don't worry!

I used Liberty Travel to book part of our HM. I was able to get all of the information over the phone. I just brought my notes home, shared them with FH and called the agent to book. I only had to stop in there to sign paperwork, hand over the credit card, and to pick up paper tickets.

We pretty much knew where we wanted to go-did tons of research on line.

I spoke with a couple of travel agents, got $$s and info and told them I'd call back if I needed them. I spoke with three different Liberty agents-and none asked me why I was calling different offices for the same info.

P.S. I've given my football obsessed FH the option that wedbabe mentioned. It works every time

FH can be quite a nuisance with Football, he's obsessed with it. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a football fanatic husband-to-be LOL (I'll use that emote-icon to display nuisance

Hi Betty, sorry I missed you post, I was probably busy writing
It's when you stay at more than one Hyatt in the different Hawaiin islands, apparantly you get a rental, breakfast included, etc. . . . all at a discounted price, I got quoted $5500 for Kaua and Maui, 10 nights total. That was with all airfare included too, I thought that was a great deal, better than anything else I priced for 5 star hotels.

Liz...I really don't think anything wrong will happen booking with another TA. You have to go where you get the best deal and business is business. I would just go ahead and go with the first TA. You do what you have to do to save $$ and have a wonderful HM that you wanted.

Don't worry everything will be fine and you HM will be great.
