When it comes to wanting to 'do things', he jumps at the chance to do them with his family/friends, where when it's my family/friends doing the inviting, he's not as eager.

In my case I think it's because it's only recently that he has become closer with some of his cousins, thus resulting in getting invited more places. Holidays, parties, etc. have always been at my family and friends, because frankly we do more than his. So I think he feels he has to make up for lost time.

Do you think he feels he needs to overcompensate when it comes to his family, for fear of 'hearing it' from his mom, etc?
I know that DH will sometimes do that, because MIL is a major nag.

Im sure you already let him know how you feel about this, but if you havent, this is the time to nip it in the butt. We had similar issues with holidays and after a while I told him exactly how my family felt and he didnt even realize what he was doing. He is a lot more conscious about this now, but I had to tell him...I think men sometimes need things to be pointed out to them.

In any event
