A mini review of Land's End
A friend at work went to a wedding last night at Land's End. The couple was married in a church-so I have no info on an onsite ceremony.
Okay,
Overall Ambience:
She loved the place, thought it was beautiful. Incredibly well manicured and very clean.
Service:
Awesome, impeccable. She said that the waitstaff was almost invisible-in a good way-meaning that they weren't bumping into people, interrupting conversation, clanking dishes. She said that an empty dish never sat for more than a minute before someone took it away. Her table tipped thier waiter at the beginning of the reception, and they didn't wait for a drink all night long.
Cocktail Hour-
She said it was indoor out door, and very well laid out. There were three bars, so no lines. There was plenty of room for people to walk around. She said that the food was fantastic-and that the stations were very complete-for example-if it was a turkey carving station, they also had stuffing and cranberry sauce...she said the couple had a lot of food-passed hors de ourves (sp?), what sticks out in her mind was the scungilli, calamari, and baby lamb chops, along with the carving station with stuffing!
Liquor-
She said that the alcohol was great. She's a beer drinker, but her husband drinks vodka-they were happy with their choices. The champagne for the toast was very good-she doesn't know what kind it was, and she said that the women at the table who were drinking wine said that it was really good.
Reception-
The tables were set for 10, and that was perfect-they all had enough room. The linens were very nice, as were the place settings.
Appetizer was a portabello mushroom topped with eggplant and cheese. She said that it was huge and wonderful.
Salad course was a salad of mixed green with gorgonzola cheese and apricots-she raved about it.
Dinner-there was a chicken and a fish, but her and her husband and most of the table went with filet mignon. She said it was a really nice size portion, two big medalions. And what really stuck in her mind was the veggies-it was a bundle of asparagus and red and yellow peppers tied with onion....She loved it! And it was cooked perfectly.
In addition to the wedding cake was a desert cart, with pastries and different cakes, which she said everyone loved. There was a cordial bar but it didn't get much action from any of the guests.....
She said that it was a really great affair, and it had a very classy feel to it!
