A nice love story to warm your heart
I thought that with all of the 'bad' stories that we all hear about marriage, divorce, etc...I would post a nice love story. My best friend met her husband when we were in 6th grade (she and I have been best friends since 4th grade). He was swimming in her pool with her brother. She called me to the window and said that her brother brought home the cutest boy. The next summer during a game of Truth or Dare, I Dared her to kiss him. It was their first kiss. He wanted to date her but he was in high school, we were in middle school so she said No, not until she was also in high school. Two days after we started 9th grade, he rode his bike down our block. He asked her out, she said 'yes'. There were ups and downs as with any high school romance but love was always there. In our senior year she found out she was pregant. He is two years older so he already graduated and had a job at a family company. They decided to have the baby and get married. It was a scary time but also full of excitment. We were all so young to know how hard marriage can be. Of course they had no money at the time so all they got was simple wedding bands from Consumers (remember that store?) Now, skip to this weekend. They have been married for 14 years, have two beautiful children, own a home. My best friend always told me 'Put your marriage before everything else, except your self-respect. Never put your children before your marriage. The most important thing you can give them is two loving, happily married parents. You have to make sacrifices but they are worth it. Make sure you kiss goodnight'. This weekend her husband gave her an engagement ring. I went with him to pick it out, afer all I have known her for 21 years and I love jewerly. It is a beautiful 14kt yellow gold band with a princess cut center stone and channel set round diamonds on each side. It was a surprise. There have been a lot of ups and a ton of downs during their 14 years together. Money is sometimes tight, the kids need a lot of time and attention, fights happen. But at the end of the day they still love each other and never quit. They make-up after fights, they talk out their problems, they try to learn from their mistakes. But after 14 years he brought her a ring to make sure she knows how much she is loved. I just thought this might give a few girls out there a smile and ,if you are going through some tough times, some hope that it can work out for the best.
