A 'no' response I'm a little pissed about

A 'no' response I'm a little pissed about

My response date was Thursday and I came home to find three responses in my mailbox. I needed 12 more adults to make my minimum out of the 20 that hadn't responded yet.

I opened the first two, the both said yes. The third is a no. No note. Then I realize who it's from.

My cousin who got married on my BIRTHDAY two years ago. The ceremony was in Massachussetts and the reception in Rhode Island! So already, it's an out of towner and not one that's easily done, and we always go on vacation on my birthdays.

So, we made the best of it. We planned a vacation around it. The day after the wedding we went to Nantucket for 3 days.

I go to the wedding to find that all the guests are in two seperate rooms with a hallway and foyer seperating them. One of the rooms had most of my relatives in it and the other room had most of the groom's relatives in it. We were in the groom's room. We were at one of only two tables out of the whole room from that side.

So already, we're not happy. Then we notice that our table is smaller than everyone else's and we're stuck in a corner, much closer to the wall than anyone else.

All this gave us the idea that we were an afterthought. The dancing was awkward because there was no dance floor, just a hall/foyer thing. We sat at the table all night, listening to the groom's drunk college buddies yelling and singing.

Still, since it was a mansion and I know how expensive they can be, so we gave more money than normal even though we were spending a lot more to attend for a hotel, etc.

And this is the cousin who can't make it to mine. Her parents are coming but she and her husband aren't.

Un freakin believable.

I would be soooo pi$$ed. People expect so much when it comes to their wedding, then when they are already married they can't be bothered, grrrrrr

I so understand how you feel. My cousin got married 1.5 years ago and we drove 8 hours to be at her wedding with no thought at all about it. I was so excited to go. Now, she declined my invitation because she didn't want to drive the 3.5 hours to NY. Are you freaking kidding me?

I am sorry. But now you know where you stand in your cousin's eyes.

You will get your 'revenge' when the cousin will make sure to let you know about the 'future' baby with the expectation to get a present.

You will just say no.... :)

I totally understand. I had a friend that I busted my butt to be their wedding videographer in ALABAMA! I did it for FREE for them as my wedding gift to them. All weekend I busted my butt getting everything: rehearsal, dinner, ceremoney, reception. I didn't have a good time.

He didn't make it to mine. Instead, he wrote a note saying he was coming back to NY in June for a visit. God knows that trip couldn't have been done 2 months prior.

Awful. Any chance she'll send you a card and a note separately?

Thanks everyone. I'm not holding my breath for a note/card/gift whatever. We only see them at showers, weddings and funerals. Still, I have attended every wedding I've been invited to. And since my parents are both one of six children each, I have a ton of cousins which equals a ton of weddings every year!

Since they live in Mass., I doubt I'd even hear about a baby shower. I guess that once you're married, you don't need the OOT guests anymore since you got what you needed from them. Out of my two sisters and one brother, I was the only one who came too.

But what can you do? It's not going to ruin anything for me. I'm over it. She's going to know what she missed when her parents tell her what a great time they had.

OMG.. that's ridiculous and selfish. If she really can't go, there should have been a personal effort to explain to you why not... not a cop out 'no' response! I'm sorry!
