You might laugh at the thought of it...but both FH and I are in NJ, and it's harder for him to leave work early and get to LI in time. So...is it even possible to go to the church, meet with the priest, and book the date when FH is not there?
Thanks!

I think it would be very very hard. they want to meet both of you. but call your church and ask you never know!

Call and explain the situation - I am sure you could meet with them on a Sat or Sunday it doesn't have to be necessarily in the evening

that's what we're doing. since we live out of state, meeting with the church on the weekend. we;re meeting with the church since a priest who is a friend of FH's family is the one who is going to marry us. definitely call and tell them.

Well I tried to get them to see me last Sunday as we were in town- no such luck. I explained my situation but the man who answered said the priests had mass that day (understandable) and Monday was their working day, and that I'd hear from them then. Hmmm still haven't heard. They seem very strict about the protocol - they won't give dates over the phone and they want you to book them before everyone else. I have a feeling they're gonna be strict about this as well.
