With the Mets being the second highest paid team, and not producing the way the Yankees do, you can't really use that argument with a straight face.

A 200 million dollar payroll beat a 30 million dollar payroll--big acomplishment there

Besides, the Yanks have fallen short in October the past few years - I suspect the Dynasty is over (much like it was in the '80's) for now.

I will admit that the Mets brass manage the money poorly, but I think I can make an argument because unlike the Yanks, the only source of revenue for the Mets is the team. The Yanks have a TV network, and Steinbrenner also half-owns the Nets.

regardless of how much money whos got, it's the players that make the team win. Maybe the mets will make it to the top again one of these years..only time will tell. and as for this year goes, let the scoreboards tell who's better in the end..but I know in my gut I'll be sitting at more post-season games this year...

Nitpicker - I guess my stats were a year or so old. Besides, it's about $87 million. With Boston at $125. Which is laughable - Boston.

Really? He's probably the best short stop in baseball - and imo, they should have moved Jeter to 3rd and not A-Rod. But it's only been game 2 of a long season...I'm sure he'll prove to be worth it. He's always been a great player - which would explain why George went after him.
