edited to add: whoops, posted under my sister's screen name)
Well, I was *supposed* to be on Long Island this weekend because of my sister's bachelorette party (she is getting married in three weeks)...but on my way down to the island, I got a phone call, one that I have always been afraid to get. My grandma passed away today at the age of 85. The doctors think she had a heart attack in her sleep. I have not seen her since my wedding last August...she lived in Florida but just recently (2 weeks ago) moved to NY again. Tonight my mom was going to have my grandparents over for dinner, and I was really looking forward to introducing Lyndsey to my Nana. She hadn't met her yet, but always asked about her. I am really sad that I never got to see her again. This is the first grandparent that I have lost...it's so weird. Please keep our family in your thoughts.

I KNOW how you feel and I am sorry that this has happened to you. It hurts like he ll. You and your family are in my prayers And while many people tell me this I am not sure how much it really helps but just know that your grandma is watching over your little one now. Again, people say that to me all the time and somedays it helps and somedays it doesn't. I hope for today it helps.

How sad Melissa !!! I know how precious a grandparent is and I know the hurt of losing two that I was VERY close to.
You are blessed to have all your grandparents to this age.
God Bless your sweet nana !

Melissa, I am so very sorry for your loss. I actually responded to your sister's post on another board, too...and I had forgotten she was your sister (whoops). I know the pain of losing grandparents too, and I know that there just isn't much anyone can say to lessen your grief. I will pray for your whole family, that you all will find some comfort and your hearts can heal a bit more in time.

Melissa, I'm so sorry for your loss... I came across your post and almost fell out of my chair.. I found out this morning that my grandmother passed away around 6 am... she was around 85 (not sure exact age)...and she lives in Florida... as you said, your grandmother was the first grandparent you've lost... my grandmother was the last grandparent I had...it's so hard to lose a grandparent and my thoughts are with you... we both had a pretty bad day today...
