A Small Slim Greek Wedding :-)

A Small Slim Greek Wedding :-)

OK girls I know ... there have been other threads about Greek Brides, but since I'm not Greek (my FH is) I really cannot relate to the details. We are not having a 'Greek' wedding, just the ceremony will be Greek in nature!

This is just a general question for anyone, even those who have attended a Greek wedding (I haven't - I'm clueless!)

We have booked his parents Greek Orthodox church for our wedding on July 25 at 1pm .. however FH is a pretty 'lasped' religious type and has no idea how long a Greek Orothodox wedding is .. We cannot meet with the church for awhile so I have no clue what to expect

Any general info would be helpful! I need to have a rough estimate b/f I can give the halls a timeframe on when I'd like my reception to begin .. we are trying to book something no more than 1/2 hour from the church if possible

Sorry for the length of this .. thanks!

I am greek and therefore have been to many greek weddings and i would say that a typical Greek Orthodox marriage ceremony lasts about an hour.

I'm Greek as well, and the Greek ceremony lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. It's very beautiful. Make sure to check with the church along the way for any restrictions. Some priets/churches tend to be a bit strict. FM if you need any specifics. Good luck!

I agree with the rest of the girls - 45 minutes to an hour.

Yes, an hour is right! If your fiance has a big family, make sure you leave some extra time for the receiving line after the ceremony. That took us an extra 1/2 hour or so!
