a small train -- should I be worried about tripping?

a small train -- should I be worried about tripping?

I'm going to my first fitting tomorrow. The dress I'm wearing has a small train (about a foot drags on the floor). The dress designer told me not to worry about it, that neither I nor anyone else will trip on it during the day, but I'm still concerned. Should I insist on a bustle, get rid of the train or believe him that it won't get in the way?

Did anyone else have a small train on her dress? If so, how did you address it?

Mine has a short train as well but I am still going to bustle it after the ceremony.

You may want to talk to other seamstresses or tailors to get their opinion. I recommend getting it bustled. It'll likely be crowded at the reception, increasing the likelihood that someone else may step on it. Plus, you may find it's easier for you to move around once bustled.

FSIL got married last year and didn't bustle her her small train - I would recommend finding a way to bustle it. I don't think anyone tripped on it, but I remember noticing it dragging on the floor and her hiking it up a lot. She may not have even noticed she was doing it. Plus - it'll get pretty dirty!!

I would bustle the train. I was in a bp and we had a small train and we kept stepping on the train while dancing. The same thing happened with my mom's dress.

My dress has a short train...and I am also concerned.
I dont like how the bustle looks on my dress...so I may just hold it in hand......=) Your seamstress can arrange to put a hook under the dress and you can carry it

I would bustle it at the RH just so it wouldn't get in the way of dancing!

I have a small train on my dress too and thought about not bustling it, but after my fitting and having the whole dress laid out I opted to get a bustle because although it is small, it was draggin a bit and I didn't want anyone stepping on it or being inconvenienced and getting it dirty.

Yes have her put even just one point to bustle the dress - if any part of it is dragging, people WILL step on it, there is absolutely no doubt about it.

Thank you for all your suggestions and advice!

I went to the fitting this afternoon and insisted that I wanted to pull up the train during the reception. He's putting in a small bustle at the back -- the little hook will be underneath the train. I think it looks fine and I won't spend the evening worrying if someone is going to step on my dress.

Bustling the train would probably make you feel better and more comfortable on your day.
