A Starry Night DJ or Spin Around Sound?
The saga continues as I try and wrap up the DJ for our wedding. Any feedback on SAS or A Starry Night would be appreciated. SAS brides, did any of you use a DJ other than Tom? Would you recommend them? I dont know why, I get a weird vibe on SAS. I know they are recommended, but feel like they have not been getting back to me in a timely manner. Plus they sounded unsure about whether I can meet the DJ (since Tom is not available) before the wedding, and I am not really comfortable booking a random DJ for my wedding, although he keeps telling me to 'trust him'. FH liked them, but I am torn. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Well - we are using SAS and my sister is using Starry Night! I have heard great things about SAS and had NO problems with Tom. He definitely is busy between LI and NYC - I bet he hasn't gotten back to you because of some communication glitch or something. He's a great guy and is extremely professional. On that note - my sister met with Starry Night and is IN LOVE with them! She says the owner is fantastic, the rate is really good and she is thrilled with her choice. So - we have a little competition going on!!!I think you are set with either. Starry is a little cheaper. But the two of us really researched this and met with a lot of people. Good luck.

I went with Music by Michael for just that reason. I think that SAS is excellent, but they are so busy, and also although Tom is who we met with, he was unavailable on our day, and I wasn't comfortable choosing a co. where I would only meet briefly with the actual DJ I would have on my wedding. I am getting very personal service and I am very happy. Starry night I haven't heard of before, but I'm sure they are excellent as well. Music is a tough decision! good luck!

We used Spin Around Sound for our wedding last year and had Anthony and Anthony as our MC-DJ team. They were great. We planned from Boston, and did not get to meet with anyone other than Tom before the wedding day, other than a phone conversation. We had our hesitations when we found we would not be able to meet beforehand, but it all worked out fine. They even pleased my MIL and that'a not easy!

I am also using SAS but honestly if I would you I would go with your gut.I know when I booked SAS they were extremely helpful, professional and reliable. They always go back to us in a timely fashion and I never got the feeling they were too busy.
But I realized I missed my payment (it was due in May) so FI called and left a message and sent an email and it took awhile before they got back to us. (usually when you want to give someone money, they rush to get back to you). I started to get nervous that they didn't have us in their books. When they finally called us back he said he had been busy and things are a little crazy and to send the payment. Maybe something happened lately to cause them to be so unorganized. Made me a little nervous. Before that incident I was extrememly high on them.

Re: A Starry Night DJ or Spin Around Sound?
Maybe I am just catching SAS at a bad time, I dont know. I do know that they have been on vacation recently, so maybe they are swamped. I had actually been calling to try and book them, but they were very slow in returning my call (this is after meeting w. Tom). Then, when I ask Tom if he is available for our wedding personally (as FH liked him when we met) he informed me that he was not, and 'thats why I told you not to wait too long to book us'. Um, hello? I have been calling and leaving msgs for 2 weeks! Then when I tried to set up a meeting, he wanted me to come to the NYC office at lunch. When I said it had to be after work, as I cannot leave the office for that long, he told me that he had a 90 minute commute home so it would have to be early. I was taken aback, since I am the one paying $$ for his services, yet he is asking me to leave work as early as possible to run over and meet him. Am I being oversensitive? The whole conversation left me w. a bad feeling. FH still wants to book, I am unsure now...

I think the thing with Tom at SAS is that he has been on vacation. I'm sure it takes him a while to catch up when he gets back. He is very busy.We booked them for our September wedding and FH and I both liked him.

We booked Get In Tune DJs in june for our wedding in sep.2003.These guys are great .We went to a showcase last night to see them again just to make sure i made the right desision. And i feel confident i did after seeing them again. There was another Dj company at the showcase last night and Get In Tune blew them away. After listening to people talk after the two showcases made me feel even more that i made the right choice.Call these guys too if you would like to get more of an idea. The owners name is Glen he is a sweet heart.Hope i could Help

Re: A Starry Night DJ or Spin Around Sound?
Thanks for all of the feedback. I have seen nothing but good feedback on these boards for SAS, but think I need to look around a little more before deciding. I am going to call Get in Tune, and have an appt w. Tom Gordon as well. I think I have been spoiled by vendors that are smaller, so they give us individual attention. Hopefully I will find someone that I feel is a match for us. Between this and looking for my dress, I am stressed! I almost want to just book the DJ and get it over with, but at this point one or two more appts wont kill me (although my FH might)
