so on saturday night i saw 2 of my bridesmaids i hadnt seen in a few months, one lives in CA and the other in brooklyn and we just dont see each other as much we're all just too busy these days. so anyway they were asking about the wedding plannings and all the little details so i showed them pictures of everything i've done so far and they seriously had negative comments about EVERYTHING!! even down to calling my dress and viel ugly. im just so shocked and hurt. i did say something along the lines of 'ok guys seriously stop your gonna make me cry' and they just told me they were being honest because were such good friends. jeez with friends like these.....
it just made me upset like could they be right do i have crappy taste or do i just have crappy friends??

thanks. i just had to vent and i knew other brides would get it. i dont mind if people dont agree with my taste or think something i chose is ugly i just find it crazy that anyone would tell me to my face that its ugly. especially the comments about my dress and viel, come on you never tell a bride her dress is ugly. that seemed like a low blow.

I had a similiar situation with 2 BM's....they thought their comments were funny, and they continued making jokes about the BM dresses...I didn't let it bother me at the moment, but it did make me second guess my choice. Then I realized it's MY wedding, I love the dresses as do 75% of the BM's and they will just have to su*k it up

First of all, why would your friends say something like that?! Even if your dress/veil/whatever wasn't their style, you don't have to go bashing it. They sound a teensy bit jealous to me. They probably have to cut you down to make themselves feel better.
Second of all, I just poked through your albums and your stuff is GORGEOUS. I absolutely LOVE your dress- the neckline is so different and graceful. And your veil actually reminds me a lot of mine. So I think you have excellent taste. Don't worry about it though, some people just can't say anything nice at all.

I just looked at your albums and I'm going to be 100% honest with you, not just feeding you a line...
Everything you have chosen is BEAUTIFUL. I think the lacework on your veil matches your dress perfectly.
I think sometimes people don't differentiate between not liking something and its not something they would get for themselves. Just because it isn't their taste doesn't mean that its not perfect for you. I have had people (ok not people, my b*tchy sister lol) make comments about things I have chosen, including my dress. You can't let it bother you. Just stay confident in your choices and true to your vision and don't let the nastiness out there get you down one bit. This is *your* time.
If I were in your position, I would probably email these bridesmaids and say that their comments were hurtful. Girls who are supposed to be your best friends should never make you feel that way, period.
Shrug it off. You and your wedding are fabulous!

I completely agree with the other girls. Just because it isn't THEIR taste doesn't mean it isn't perfect for you. Of course I had to peek in your album. Your dress has this timeless elegance that is just beautiful! And I love how the embroidery on your veil matches the pattern on your dress which even matches your day of necklace. I guess they won't appreciate those little details until it is their time. I guarantee they will see the big picture on the big day. You will look amazing!

I wouldn't listen to them and you're right with friends like that who needs enemies. Your dress is beautiful and even though lace isn't my favorite I still think your veil is very nice. Don't let what they said bother you on your wedding day you have nothing to worry about you will look gorgeous,

wow.. I feel really bad that you were treated that way. I looked at your albums also, and I think everything is beautiful! I think they are bad friends for making you feel that way. Sorry... I really hope that there are other bridesmaids who make you feel the complete opposite. I don't even think i would want them as BM's at this point!!

thank you ladies you are all so sweet i could cry here at my desk (but i wont dont wanna look like the crazy chick in the office) honestly i just needed to vent because it was so shocking to hear. but the more i think about it, it shouldnt surprise me. out of my core group of girlfriends we're all married/engaged buying houses, talking about starting families we're all moving on except those 2 and i think they're having a hard time dealing with this. they are both still living the same flighty way they did in college, they never really grew up. and i do have sympathy for them i know it must be hard to be the single girl when literally all your friends are getting married but my thinking is they can be sad for themselves without pissing all over someone elses parade. one of these girls has been this way since i got engaged so it shouldnt have been a shockl still just felt like a punch to the gut. but ok i'll stop bitching now.
thank you all for saying sweet things about my dress! i love it, my family all love it and i know my FH will love it so im happy with my decision.

I had asked you about your headpiece last week after you posted a pic because I thought it was sooo pretty. I went to Barrons this weekend and tried it on - I realy loved it but wound up going with another one only because it matched my dress better - but I still love the one you got.
