A weird thing just happened

A weird thing just happened

I haven't had my cell phone on all week. So I went to check it today and I get this message from some guy who thinks he knows me but I have no clue who he is. He says 'hi mary, this is neil o'connor from brooklyn...i hope i have the right mary...(then says the last name but it doesn't sound like mine but i can't make out what he said for sure.) Then he says 'I was going through an old calendar and found your number and wanted to give you a call and see how you were. Then gives me 2 numbers to call him at.

OK. Never heard of the guy. And my last name is unusual and it was not the name he said although I couldn't really make out what he said (sounded like Mary Ure?? No idea that's what it sounded like he said). Plus he called my cell phone. It's not listed and I don't give it to alot of people. Maybe I met this guy in a bar before I met FH??? I don't remember (which may not be a good thing!). But if he has the wrong person - then how does he have my number?

And I checked out the name on switchboard.com - his number and name match.

Should I call him and ask how does he know me? Or just drop it?

It's kinda freaky.

I wouldn't call back...if he calls again, just tell him he has the wrong #.

its always possible that someone gave out a fake number...and it just happens to be yours. Mary is a common enough name...

Is this a new cell phone number for you? I had that problem with my new phone.

If not, he probably dialed the wrong number. You don't know him, I would just drop it.

OK - but it bugs me that he had the number and the name is mine......yes it's a common name but still freaky! If he calls again I'll ask where he got the number.

Thanks ladies & gentleman!

Does your voicemail state your name? MIne does and if that's the case then he peobably got your name that way. I say drop it.

I get strange calls from men all the time......hmm, I never thought to worry............

Ok, ok, just kidding, but I wouldn't worry. I agree, he probably heard your name on your vm and that's how he got it. Ignore it. At least it was your cell and not your home number that he can find an address for.
