a welcome party?

I need some help with this one...

Since the wedding is sunday I wanted to make our wedding into a weekend event.

I am planning to host a 'welcome party' on saturday night (place still undecided but we are thinking dave and busters in Islandia or a restraunt at the hotel)

I was planning on including this info in our STD pocketfolds but im not sure what to write or how much info to include. and, how would we know how many people are coming?? i dont know about putting an rsvp on this, i dont really want to.

anyone do an 'extra' event like this either before or after? can you share how logistically this worked??

Sorry I can't help more with this but it seems like doing something at the hotel would be good. Maybe if you just have some apps.and drinks at the hotel bar you wont have to tell them an exact number this way you dont have to have an RSVP?

When my sister got married we did the RD & then had a continental breakfast/brunch the day after the wedding. The same will apply fo rmywedding.

We went to wedding weekend events this 4th of July weekend. In the STD's, they included a small card entitled 'Wedding Weekend Events' and listed the events by day. It kind of went like this:

Wednesday: Groom's bachelor party in AC; Bride's bachelorette party in NY. All are welcome. (Contact info for BM & MOH)
Thursday: Happy Hour at (bar in Patchogue)
Friday: BBQ at bride's mom's house.

They didn't ask anyone to RSVP for these events and I'm not sure how they knew how many people to plan for. I think they played it by ear. Then, when they sent out the invitation, they included an insert with further details for all the things going on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday including addresses, more contact info, etc. Worked out very well.

I wasnt going to have a traditional sit down RD. I was going to do some kind of outing (fishing, whale watch, tip to the hamptons) on sat. Day with my BP and then do the welcome party at night. I guess a bar type thing would make more sense but since its destination i wanted to do something fun where anyone could attend not just drinkers.

maybe ill talk to the hotel and see if we can come up with something.
