in my case, I've been preparing for at least 20 years (being 41)

I totally agree that it is just one amazing day but the rest of your life together is where the real work begins and I think as you get older you realize that and you realize that there actually are other things going on that are as important as your wedding.

Scary that you can plan for 2 years (some more, some less) but certain things you still can't control, death, illness, or the weather. Remembering that helped me stay grounded.

I honestly think though that half of the reason we put so much stress on the ONE day is b/c all the damnn $$$$$ we spend on it

I always say the most important part of the wedding, is not the RH, not the DJ, not the dress, but the fact that you found that special person that you want to spend the rest of your life with and the ceremony is where that all begins.

09er crashing (hope that's okay!). I just wanted to share a quote I found while looking for things to say in speeches (I was my sister's MOH).

'When you look back on your wedding day, you should remember it as the day you loved each other the least.'

I think that's really smart. Love should grow even more throughout a marriage!
