Re: aaaah! Honeymoon stuff is driving me crazy!!!
I wouldn't be as concerned with hurricane season as I would be rainy season. honestly I wouldn't go if it was an islands rainy season....
come to think of it I am going to check when St.Lucia's is now..... :::biting my nails::::
ok I take that back..... here is St.Lucia's while we will be there....
Due to its location near the equator, St. Lucia does not have very well defined seasons. There is however a rainy season that generally falls between June and November. During this season, visitors should be prepared for heavy, but sporadic showers that come on quickly. Visitors should not worry about traveling during the rainy season as the showers may come about quickly, but blue skies are quick to follow.

Re: aaaah! Honeymoon stuff is driving me crazy!!!
Ill help you decide if you need advice.. FH and i are soo stuck on my honeymoon its driving us crazy!!! I have a meeting with my friend from my office next week to finally decide on something, lol.
Costa Rica - its their rainy season .. I def do not suggest goin there.
Hawaii - def out of the hurricane belt
Aruba and Curacao - out of the hurricane belt
It looks like Hawaii would be the best weather wise unless you want to risk it like I might do ,lol. I have tons of books on hawaii and caribean..FM me if you need any help!:)

thats hard but i personally would do Hawaii. i know it sounds cliche but i really think its a once in a lifetime type trip. from what ive heard, although you can do it on a certain budget, Hawaii is still not cheap no matter what and especially for your hm, you want to stay in great resorts. costa rica seems like a place you can go another time (not during hurrican season) and also maybe a little cheaper. although ive seen that costa rica is very pretty, i hear that is veryyyyyyy much for active people, hawaii i think is more 50/50 if thats what you're looking for

We were in St Lucia in late July/early August which is rainy season... it rained the night we flew in so I was worried, but other than one day of clouds it was beautiful the rest of the time!

I am having the very same issue....we are looking at Hawaii and Costa Rica and bickering about it. If we go to Costa Rica we are looking to spend most of our time in Arenal. I have the same concern about the rainy season and have been told by a few people that have been there during the rainy season and said it was fine. Rain a little then the sun comes out.

I would definitely go with Hawaii if it's rainy season in Costa Rica. Hawaii is amazing. You will love it...so much to do and it's beautiful

fh and i decided on hawaii because it wont always be in our reach like it is now....its a reaaaally long flight and more $$$ than our other choice, the carribbean. everyone always says go to hawaii for ur honeymoon bc u'll 'never get back' (because of kids or lack of $$)....so that kinda did it for us.....that AND the fact that LOST is filmed on hawaii!!!!

I know two people that went to Costa Rica during rainy season. One in July, the other in August. From what they said, it only rains for like 45 minutes and then the rest of the day you're fine. I just came back from the rainy season in the Amazon and it rained in the morning before we got up and the rest of the day was fine.
In Arenal, I've heard Tabacon is a nice place for honeymooners. They have hot springs there and spa features I believe.
I stayed in Cabanas Los Pinos in Monteverde. You get your own private little house. It was extremely affordable and the ride into town was close to nothing..like 2 or 3 dollars.
If you do Monteverde you MUST do The Original Canopy Tour. It's literally the original and it's 8 or 10 ziplines, 2 rappells and a tarzan swing. You even go up the hollow part of a tree to a platform. It's the real deal,no fake platforms. You're really high up in the canopy. Best tour of our trip.
The distance between Arenal and Monteverde is 1.5 hrs and it's a nice ride. Most of it is by boat across a lake.
eta: hurricane season won't affect where you're planning on going.

Re: aaaah! Honeymoon stuff is driving me crazy!!!
I have been to both places and loved them. I think you should got to Hawaii for your honeymoon though. It is just so beautiful and romantic. I agree with the above posters that it really is a once in a lifetime trip. Costa Rica is only a few hours away and you could always go on a small vacation there for your one year anniversary. It isn't really too expensive. If you go to Costa Rica and stay in Arenal, you will be in the rain forest so it will be misty/rainy the entire time. I also stayed in tamirindo and we weren't able to lay out on the beach. It was windy and the sand kept blowing in our faces. We ended up staying by the pool. We had an amazing time though. You should def visit both places in your lifetime.
