Abandoned bove ground oil tank question?

Would you leave it there? Did you have it tested to make sure it was empty?

TIA

You can have it pressure tested. But if it is already abandoned, chances are that's been done already. Since it's above ground, you should be able to have it removed without much of a problem.

Do you think we should just leave it alone? The owner of the house just left it. Ther owner before her is the one who converted from oil to gas?

Thanks for your help.

There is a process in abandoning a tank. In that sense, there should also be some sort of certificate or other paperwork proving this process was done in accordance with local law. Not sure if this would be on file with the town or county you are in, but you should definitely look into it. It should have shown up in the title report when you bought the home. Personally, I would see what kind of work/costs are involved from removing it from the property entirely.

Thanks Kris2C. We are in the process of buying and I read your post to my realtor, she is going to check w/the lawyer about this.
