You do not pay for anything. I did it one year prior because our wedding falls on a holiday weekend. Otherwise it's recommended to do it 9 months prior. A month before your wedding if any of the rooms on hold are not booked they are released for them to sell.

I went the week after I booked my hall. They didn't take a credit cad from us they just blocked them for our wedding. I know every hotel is different SO you would have to ask the hotel that your interested in how they do it.

We did our 11 months before because it's a popular wedding hotel and we are getting married on a popular day. You do not have to shell out any money, unless you are paying for your guests hotel rooms, then I think you have to put a deposit down.

also..if you have oot guests flying in wouldnt u need to block some a few days before the wedding? how does that work?

i did mine over a year in advance but then cancelled it when a new hotel opened up and switched it.

pretty much what everyone has said - no fee, just figure out how many OOT guests you have nad really t hink who would show up block the rooms and they release them one month before your date if you don't use them all.

We reserved the night prior and the wedding night. I have to double check our contract, but I think they will give our rate (unless it's cheaper otherwise) for a few nights surrounding our wedding. Double check with the hotel and have them put it in the contract.

Each hotel is different. Some say 10 and some say 15.

I told Four Points Sheraton that I was pretty sure we would only need 7 rooms and they blocked 10 just in case.

I am using the courtyard marriot in farmingdale, 10 room min, we do get a shuttle service and we blocked the bar to stay open past 10 p.m. for cash.

We are not having a breakfast there the day after = prices were scary to host one. I am thinking of just skipping the breakfast because i don't think many of our guests are going to be up early the next day.

I just did mine.. about 7 months before the wedding. Im not paying for anyone's room except for mine and FH.. soooo all you do is spread the word and tell people where you have reserved the rooms and tell them that they can reserve one too with their CC.. Hope that helps!
