? about DVD Players

My husband really wants a DVD Player for Christmas. Has anyone done any research or know anything about what to look for when purchasing? I dont need something top of the line just a solid machine.

I have a Panasonic DVD that I got last year for X-Mas and I love it.

I love anything Sony but for some reason my sisters Sony DVD player has been nothing but problems. She paid alot of money for it. I told her she probably got a defective one that she should call Sony about.

Check Consumer Reports website. My dad does this for all electronic purchases he is looking to do and then waits for that item to go on sale and buys it.

This might sound nutty, but we use our X-Box. It comes with a dvd player (you just need to buy the remote for it to work) and it is a video game too. I think they run like 199 now?

So far the quality of the movies has been exceptional.

mims, I was just going to suggest the same thing. We also use our XBox and have been pleased. Buying him an XBox and the DVD kit would spoil him rotten and you'd be the coolest wife ever. hehe

Thanks for the XBox Play Station idea. I didnt know you could use them as DVD's. I might just go that route.

Valenia--- it was his birthday gift I was a gooooood girlfriend last year (we weren't engaged yet.. but I bet it helped move that along!! LOL)
