SO my RH requires vendors to be insured, etc. What is the difference between an actual vendor and a family member/friend providing the service? For example, My sisters boyfriend does videography and has all the expensive equipment. I considered asking him to videotape the wedding in lieu of a present of course. My concern was are the going to consider him a vendor and require insurance from him. He does not have a business he just likes to tape things and received the equipment as a present. What do you think about this situation? Are guests allowed to take video and pictures on their own??? You would think so.
Does anyone know???

Re: ? about insured vendors...
Would he be a guest at the wedding doing that for you, or are you hiring him?
If hes a guest, I think that should be fine, but if hes an actual contracted vendor, they need to have insurance, just in case anything gets damaged or anyone gets hurt...

Re: ? about insured vendors...
I've heard of people doing that plenty of times....but now with the insurance.
I asked a RH as to why they need an insurance and this is what he said ' in case someone spill a drink gets hurt, or something goes wrong and the out come would be suing we don't want to be held responsible' which kinda made sense if he does have expensive equipment he wouldnt want it to get messed up.
They sell insurance for a day which is something we are going to do with our DJ. My FH ia Disc Jokey so he will be getting insurance and hire his friend for the day.
