Ok so i read the info. about marriage licenses in the planning section, and let me just see if I get this straight....i need to go to the courthouse, with a $35 dollar money order, and bring legal id's (i assume drivers licenses are enuff) and then I fill out the rest of the paperwork there?

Depends where you go...

The courthouse in Queens (Kew Gardens) will ONLY accept a money order and does not accept birth certificates as a form of id. Others are completely the opposite. I recommend contacting the courthouse you're planning on going to directly so you have all the proper documentation/payment with you.

Town of Islip requires license, birth cert. your SS# and $40 cash. lol

When in doubt I always try to bring more forms of ID than it suggests. You are usually safe with at least two forms of picture ID but yes, most require your SS#.

Passport
Driver's license
SS card

and yes, FH's divorce decree.
