? about moving from rear to front facing
Re: ? about moving from rear to front facing
I am in the same boat as you. Annalise was 1 on 12/14, but I have yet to turn her around. She is very petite so I would like her to stay backwards if it is not causing her more harm than good. She is almost 30' which is the max length for the Britax Roundabout rearfacing. I would like to keep her rear facing through much of the winter until the snow/ice is gone. I think the weight rear facing is the 35 lbs. There is a car safety board on babcenter that I hear is excellent. I will check it out this week. I look forward to hearing what anyone else thinks.

ok victoria- let me know what you find out
Re: ? about moving from rear to front facing
The reason to keep them rear-facing really has more to do with the strength of their neck muscles than anything else. If (god forbid) you were in a car accident, their little necks could be severely injured if they are jolted. But, this can happen if they are rear-facing too, unfortunately. It depends upon where the car has impact.
Re: ? about moving from rear to front facing
At our 1 year visit, the ped said we could turn the car seat around -- I asked if it wasn't better to keep it rear facing. She replied it is safer only if their legs aren't touching the back seat.
