For the past 4 yrs i have been working at this one company and I have been treated so horrible I don't know why I even stay. Today I came into work and everything that had made me miserable in the past with this one supervisor started again today....so nasty to me i just want to cry....and i have stayed strong for 4 yrs and now im at a breaking point.
Obviously switching jobs is tough......especially needing the money for the wedding and not taking the chance of never finding one. I was supposed to leave 2 months ago but the owner offered me more money so i stayed and now i know it was a HUGE mistake.
This is where I need advice and help from all of you. Do any of your know of any office jobs available on the island??? I will pretty much do anything right now to make some kind of transition. I have over 6 yrs of experience in office/administrative positions and this job is just stressing me out. Any advice or help would be great.....

I think your best bet is to search the websites of all major corps on LI...
Melville: Arrow Electronics (great place to work) Henry Schein Adecco (great place to work) Newsday OSI Pharm (beautiful new building LOL) MSC North Fork Bank American Home Mortgage (great place to work)
Plainview: Veeco Instruments
Islandia: CA Motorola

I say with your experience, go work in Manhattan... you'd make a hell of a lot more money and the commute isn't bad at all.... If your FH is in W. Islip, there are a number of train stations to choose from.
good luck..

Thank you. I used to work in manhattan in an advertising firm on Madison Ave. I liked it for awhile but then the commute started to hurt and i felt more like a robot going to work every day....but i gotta do something cause this situation is worse.

Kim says NYC - more money but if you don't want to commute stick with Melville.
The companies that I listed in Melville are your best bet IMO.
It's centrally located on the border of Nassau/Suffolk...

I totally know what you mean, but with the pressure of a wedding to pay for, I'll be a robot for a year or two (which is what I'm doing now).

if you are talking about experience as like an assistant to top mgt...u can may really good $ as an executive assistant in nyc...not sure what ure making now...but my friend started with little experience as an office asst at bain with $40k.
usually investment banking/financial offices pay a lot for those kinds of ppl...especially in nyc

Re: ABOUT TO QUIT MY JOB! help!!
I was the same way. I have been here for 8 year this april. And I had another job offer. My company ended up giving me more money so I stayed. It got better for awhile but I still hate it.

Re: ABOUT TO QUIT MY JOB! help!!
There are many companies in garden City. Honestly though- I have looked and there is much more money to be made in the city- you just have to be willing to make the commute. And i dont know how far out you live so this may be ver difficult for you.
But if you are interested in the city, FM me and I can give you the name of the staffing agency I use.
