Accessorizing a Dress (plus storing it)?

Accessorizing a Dress (plus storing it)?

I don't understand how anyone accessorizes a dress (veil, hair, jewelry) without constantly having it with them or ON them at all times.

I probably have 4-6 months until my dress comes in, so I guess I could try on a few things at the place I bought the dress when it comes in, but I'm not having it altered there.

I found a veil online that I think would go really well, but I have no idea how it'll look with the dress or in person. Plus, do you try on the gown at home when you order something online, just to see how it'll look?

Also, when it comes in, what do I do with it? I'm taking it somewhere locally to be altered... do I store it at home until I bring it to be altered? How soon do I bring it to be altered? Will they store it for me? AHHH... So many questions!!!

Let me tell you...I have no clue how girls do it but I told B#rtons that when I am ready to get a veil I am trying my dress on there. I dont care that it's a Priscilla of Boston and they don't sell them there. I am putting the dress on and then veils. I cant just match without seeing how it all looks together. It's just not possible for me.

I purchased my veil at the same time i purchased the dress so i saw the color matched. As for jewelery i have noooo idea!! i have been looking at pics of my dress and trying to imagine different things with it.. its very hard!!

I agree it is hard to accessorize a dress without having with you!
For jewelery I bought a few different options from Macys and Lord & Taylor, who have great return policies, 90 days. Then when I had a fitting I brought them with me and tried them on got to see what looked best.
For the veil, at my fittings I tried on the styles they had and got an idea of what I like and looked best with my dress. Once you know what you're looking for, you can buy it elsewhere.

If you're going to a store, bring pics of your dress, the sales people are usually good with making good pairings!

I went through so many sets of jewelry and probably ten pairs of shoes until I found the right ones. I would buy a few necklaces/earrings and shoes and bring them to the store where I bought my dress and try them on with the dress. By the end, the women there knew me as the 'shoe girl' , but they always loved seeing what I brought in. Otherwise, I don't know how I wouldhave found what I really liked to go with my dress.
