I don't know- I just tried to figure it out and I clikcked subscribe and it said 'subscription added.' so I did the same thing!!

I think that means when you subscribe, anytime there is a post added to the thread, you will be notified.

Yes, you get e-mail every time there is a post added to the thread.

yep this is what happens-its almost like a book mark in case you want to keep on top of the thread
