Ack...I don't know what to do...

Ack...I don't know what to do...

We met with our jewelers to discuss wedding bands and I decided on a classic 5-stone:

The ring I tried on was the one we decided to get. They just have to resize it, so it will be ready in 2 weeks. It sounds horrible, but I'm wondering if I should have gotten larger stones.

On the one hand (no pun intended ), I'm going to be wearing my e-ring and wedding band together, so I don't want my wedding band to overpower my e-ring.
On the other, I want my wedding band to be comparable to my e-ring.

The stones weren't small (in fact I thought they were a decent size), but we (my FH and I) initially were going to go with a little bit larger.

Should we call them and tell them to stop the presses!?! (They're in CT, so it's not like we can just drive to the store to try different size stones on. We have to make a day out of it, thanks to LI & CT traffic.)

Ack....I'm freaking! I don't know if I should visit some local jewelry stores just to try on 5-stone rings w/different size stones.

Did any of you second guess your wedding band?

I think I have the same wedding band! Not sure how big my individual stones are, but the ring is alittle over a carat (I think 1.1) and my E ring is 2 carats with the side stones. I tried on larger stone wedding bands, but it was just TOO much.
If you're unsure though, I'd call the jeweler and tell them to hold off. You want to LOVE your ring!

Jenny my wedding band has larger stones. I wish I can show you but the camera's flash ruins it.

I went to get smaller stones but then if I wear my wedding band alone (usually I don't, but maybe when i have a baby) but if I decide to it look's great all by itself.

My wedding band doesn't overpower my ering but comes close

I didn't second guess my wedding band.If you are having doubts though,I would call them and tell them that you may want something different and that you want to go back and look again.
Don't wait too long because you want to stop them from making it for you.

I got the same exact wedding band and have loved it! The 5 stones behind my e-ring make the center stone of my e-ring sparkle like crazy! The 5 on my wedding band are not huge at all..I think total weight on it is something like .8

Re: Ack...I don't know what to do...

I totally did! My wedding bands have a total carat weight of around 6 carats, and I was at first really excited that it had so many diamonds...

Well, when I wore my e-ring with the wedding bands, my e ring looked small compared to all those other diamonds (any my e-ring wasn't small).

(I forgot to say, I've been engaged for about 3.5 years, and I got my wedding bands around 2 years ago and have been wearing them! Oppsie!)

So, FI new I wasn't happy with the way it all looked, so he took my E-ring stone and put it in a necklace with another diamond (he totally surprised me with this one, the other diamond was a fancy intense yellow diamond, yippee!).

He then gave me another surprise recently and bought me another engagement ring, bigger than the first, to wear on my other hand.

To make a long story short, don't get too big stones, because you then may not be happy with the way it looks with your e-ring.

Jenny, this is the best pic I have for now

People are like wow you have alot of diamonds on your hand!

My ering is 1.83 & my wedding band is about the same or a bit more

Jenny, I saw a pic of your ring, and it's a nice size, so your ring could handle a wedding band with stones that are of a nice size, but still not too big...

If you don't mind telling us, what size did you agree to today, and what are you considering?

Jenn, very sparkly! Nice set there!!!!

Kathy,
Each stone is .25 (1.25 total...just in case someone has been drinking and can't do math tonight. )

In fact, when I first tried it on, I was hesitant that they may be too big. (But shrinkage doesn't take long to set in with me. )

We initially figured on .33 or so. I tried on a 2.5 ctw 5-stone and we felt the stones were way too large.

Jenny, 1.25 is a nice size ring! How large is your e ring if you dont mind me asking? And is it a solitaire, or do you have side stones?

Re: Ack...I don't know what to do...

Jenny Thanks, bigger is usually always better

When & if you have kids & can't wear both rings, the wed band looks great alone.

When I first got mine I said this does take away from my ering a bit but now I love it, I am like you shrinkage sets in fast!

Re: Ack...I don't know what to do...

Stacy,
It's 2.5 solitaire, no side stones.

FH said he'd call our jewelers tomorrow or Monday to get their opinions. In the meantime tomorrow, I think I'll be dragging his butt to a few jewelry stores.

Jenn,
That's what I'm counting on. I can't imagine it being difficult getting used to bigger diamonds.

Jenny I have seen your ring in person, it's HOT, if I were you I'd go with bigger stones!

Re: Ack...I don't know what to do...

Wow, 2.5 is huge! My ring isn't that big, and looks fine with the smaller stones (I actually just went and tried them on together again ), but for your ring, maybe you would want more.
I dont know where you live, But I know the flea market in Sayville has a HUGE selsction of rings so you could get a better idea of what you want.

Jenn,
Kevin is making fun of me because on the way home from the jeweler, I was wondering if I should go smaller!

Re: Ack...I don't know what to do...

I ended up getting the big eternity band and realized after wearing it a few months that it is too big to wear everyday especially to work. I ended up getting an everyday band to wear to work. Not to sound bad but I got fed up with the comments from my co-workers on the size of the ring.
