acrylic or silk?!?!?!?

I am getting a full set tomorrow after work in prep. for my fast approaching wedding day. I am definitely doing the permanent french (pink and white), but i am unsure if I should get acrylic or silk. Which looks better? Which do you recommend? I want them to look natural, but really good at the same time! I need some feedback!!

there are some places that do a perminent french that the nail color is in a powder form.

So typically they paint on the white, and in a day it is chiping off. This new method the color is in the powder. and the best part is it sets through UV light and is dry in a bout a minute or 2. so no sitting under the dryer for 10 minutes to make sure you don't smudge them

Mani pedi spa in Massapequa does it.

i got permanent french once.... and i didn't even have to sit to dry AT ALL. the only thing i didn't like was that it felt very fake (even thoguh i had it done on my real nails) and that it was VERY expensive.

i recommend neither! haha, honestly... i bit my nails my ENTIRE life, until last year. I made it my new year's resolution to stop biting them, and by the time we got engaged (7/27) my nails were PERFECT. i just made sure i went and got a manicure each week and just stopped biting them 'cold turkey'. now, my nails are so thick and hard.... they are great! i tried getting acrylic and silk and tips and all of that.... but they always made my nails so much weaker after. i suggest regular weekly manicures, and just using a top-coat that promotes nail hardening and thickening!

Thanks for the heads up.........but I have 21 days to work with here, and I definitely want the long french manicured perfect looking nails for the wedding day, so I have no choice but to go with this.

hey ... I've gotten the permanent french done with both acrylic and silk. The silk comes out very thin and natural but does cost more. With the acrylic you just have to make sure you tell them to make them very thin and not wide. They both looked great so I guess it's a personal preference.

I'm not sure but I think the silk is supposed to better for your nails.

Re: acrylic or silk?!?!?!?

definitely go with acryllic - it is stronger and the pink and white will look better

another type to onsider is a permanent gel french - gorgeous and super shiny

with acryllic you will most likely still get polished (with a light or clear color) and have to dry -- but with gel you walk out of the salon with a shiny french manicure and it is hypoallergenic and does not smell

fm me if you ave any more questions

I am getting acrylic, they always seem to be stronger...that is only my own experience with them though...

ohh, i forgot about gel. They're nice, but again more expensive. You don't have to get a polish with any of them though. I get a clear buff and they stay shiny for weeks and i walk right out with no drying (looks much better than the polish anyway). I noticed this on the bottom of the page... it's from a while ago but it might help... old thread

I get a permanent french that is done with gel & set with uv light. No drying time, and it lasts 2+ weeks!

I always get silk. They say its better for your nails because the silk allows them to breath. Who knows if that's true or not. I like the way it looks because its not as thick as acrylic but I hate taking them off!

I had it for my wedding & did the silk version. I have silk wraps on my nails for at least 5 years & have not had a problem. I found that the silk was very natural looking & also very easy to maintain. We went away for our HM for 10 days & they lasted through that without a problem. There are some pictures in my album!

Go with silk...its worth the extra money. I went from acrylic to silk, and the silk looks more natural. I have small hands that are a lil chubby in a way...kinda like im still 5! the silk makes me look lithe acrke im not wearing fake nails...the acrylic did...

The silk looks more natural, but is more expensive & I found it to be more delicate (easier to break) The acrylic looks a little more 'fake', but you can sk them to make thema natural shape & width, and polish over the tips with a sheer to soften the look of the perm frnech. I used to use Like Linen from Essie on my perm french.

I would go with silk hands down. I am not a fan of the acrylic at all.

I agree - I like the silk better. I think it looks more natural looking.
