Are you getting married at your venue? I could be wrong, but I didn't think someone who's actively in the catholic church could marry someone if the wedding doesn't take place in a church
I believe that is true, Jsabbatino. I have heard, just something I've heard, that some Catholic priests who go to hospitals can be paid off, so to speak, to do ceremonies outside of churches. It is very very rare a priest will do a ceremony outside of the church.
Deacons and priests are very different... Deacon George at St John Nepomucene Church in Bohemia is very nice and helpful. Always asks how our wedding planning is going when we see him around town. Him and his wife also do Pre-Cana type retreats for married couples in our parish.. Not sure how to get in touch with him but I'm sure St. John's website has info.
I think my cousin looked into this, but if you and FH are both confirmed it is not allowed outside of the church (I think that is what she said). I'll tell her to check the boards and give you the actual details!
My FFIL looked into this and a deacon would not marry us because we both had our confirmation and all our other sacraments. We found someone in massapequa that will do it we are just working on details. This is def causing me the biggest headache!
