activities for your child?

activities for your child?

just wondering - would love to hear your opinions

do any moms have their kids enrolled in sports/arts/activities/music? or plan to?

when do you start and when is it your decision vs. theirs?

my IL's were professional musicians and DH went to a classical guitar school

I was very athletic growing up (tennis, ballet, gymnastics)

do we pick? how early to start?

I think at age 3 they can start getting into things. I want Patrick to take an instrument, soccer & some dance classes. (probably Irish step)

I started piano at four years old. It started for like 15 minutes a session I think just now and then, and then gradually to a half hour probably by the time I was 6 or so. I ended up staying with it through college.

But I insist on having lots of instruments in the house. My husband plays everything by ear. Piano, guitar, harmonica..he can even play the violin...it's a very strange gift, and one I am hoping our children get!!!

jenny...my DH is like that too...so I want to encourage it...

I saw this on Oprah yesterday...child prodigies...and it got me thinking...

DH is nervous that I will put too much pressure on our children...I'm fanatic even preparing my body for PG

erica - you wont' put pressure. I don't think you are like that.

I just think you recognize how valuable talent is and want to expose your itty bitty to all of it!!! And after all...it will probably BE a prodigy so you need to be prepared!
